As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and maintain product-driven initiatives to improve and expand the messaging portal. Responsibilities include enhancing the codebase for extensibility and maintainability, conducting code and architecture reviews, providing on-call support, and delivering high-quality projects. Collaboration with product, design, and backend engineering teams is crucial. Mentoring junior developers and adapting to new technologies are key aspects of the role. The position involves working on a platform that informs, engages, and delights Disney's guests across multiple channels.

Job Summary:

  • Build and maintain product-driven initiatives to improve and expand the messaging portal.

  • Enhance/improve the underlying codebase to be extensible, reusable, and maintainable.

  • Be involved in code reviews and architecture reviews for team members.

  • Provide on-call support for critical services on a rotational basis.

  • Own and deliver projects end-to-end with high quality and a robust architecture.

  • Communicate and work with multi-functional business partners, including product, design, and backend engineering.

  • Collaborate and mentor more junior developers, help them and yourself grow as developers and people.

  • Ramp up on new domains and technologies.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Build and maintain product-driven initiatives to improve and expand the messaging portal, Enhance/improve the underlying codebase to be extensible, reusable, and maintainable.

  • Collaboration and mentorship of more junior developers.

  • On-call support.

  • Collaborate with your squad, Product Managers, Designers, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions and outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Front-end web development experience working with Typescript, React, HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS, and vanilla JS.

  • Experience working collaboratively across development, design, product, marketing, and more.

  • Experience using design tools for development purposes (such as Figma and Sketch).

  • Proven ability to mentor more junior developers.

  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience working with localization and/or internationalization.

  • Solid understanding of A/B experimentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience shipping entertainment/streaming media applications/platforms.

  • Experience building messaging experiences, especially Email and Push.

  • A history building internally scalable UI systems.

Required Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.


The hiring range for this position in Seattle or New York is $145,400 to $195,000 per year, in Santa Monica is $ 138,900 to $186,200 per year, and in San Francisco is $152,100 to $203,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
