Job Description

ByteDance is seeking talented Backend Software Engineers to join our team in Bellevue, WA. You will design, implement, and deliver highly scalable backend services and systems for our global e-commerce business. This includes areas like product, transaction, payment, fulfillment, and after-sales. You will participate in data structure, algorithm design and analysis, networking, data security, and highly scalable systems design. You will also be responsible for improving the stability, scalability, and quality of existing services and architecture, and guiding engineers to optimize system performance. In this role, you will investigate and implement new technologies related to e-commerce business. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Must have:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Architecture, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in the same fields and 3 years of related work experience.
1 year of experience in designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant, distributed, and low latency backend workflow orchestration architecture
1 year of experience in designing and implementing scalable, fault tolerant, and distributed backend event driven architecture
1 year of experience in designing and implementing scalable RESTful APIs
1 year of experience in working with cross-functional stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical requirements, and using agile methodology for the entire software development lifecycle
1 year of experience in writing testable, maintainable, and low latency software using high level programming languages, including Golang, Java, Python, or C++.

Responsibilities Design, implement, and deliver highly scalable backend services and systems for global e-commerce business, including product, transaction, payment, fulfillment, and after-sales. Participate in data structure, algorithm design and analysis, networking, data security, and highly scalable systems design. Continuously improve the stability, scalability, and quality of the existing services and architecture of central product systems. Maintain the quality and stability of the system, and guide engineers at all levels to continuously optimize various technical indicators of the system. Investigate and implement new technologies related to e-commerce business.

Qualifications

Qualifications Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Architecture, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Architecture, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related STEM field, and 3 years of related work experience. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $137750 - $237500 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
