Summary

CNN is looking for an SVP of Product Management & Design. This executive will be responsible for creating a premium and engaging customer experience for a suite of news subscription products and services on mobile and web. This person will be responsible for creating a long-term vision for CNN’s products; for functional excellence in both our product and design disciplines; and for managing trade-offs and for partnering across the company to drive user habituation and engagement.

This person will oversee a team of product managers in crafting innovative, user-centric solutions to customer problems, ensuring alignment with CNN’s broader strategic vision and business goals – and maintaining our commitment to deliver the highest of journalistic standards. By partnering deeply with news, features, video and more editorial teams, this person will leverage CNN’s competitive advantages and integrate them into a cutting-edge experience.

This person will be responsible for driving overall excellence of our digital products while adapting to evolving user behaviors and trends, championing a data-driven, customer-first approach to inform the features, roadmap, and ultimate product delivery.

The successful candidate will lead his/her team through CNN’s next chapter of transformation at a critical time for journalism, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and accountability while effectively managing with his/her proven capabilities in motivating and coaching a high performing team.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Define, drive, and execute a product roadmap and vision by identifying clear user needs that CNN can solve, and data and insights and turning them into actionable steps and aggressive deliverables for CNN’s experiences.
  • Create alignment between editorial, engineering, business stakeholders, and leadership while helping to define the high-level product strategy that is aligned with CNN’s broader business goals and vision.
  • Employ subject matter expertise (product, platform, industry trends) in news on both web and mobile app marketplaces from a deep understanding of customer motivations, journeys, and usage patterns.
  • Build a content publishing and operations process that works daily with News/Advertising Sales to enhance content presentation, utilizing and testing existing features and functionality.
  • Partner closely with growth capabilities in the Digital Products & Services organization to ensure tight alignment in strategy, prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Partner with Engineering, UX/Design, Business Intelligence, and editorial teams to understand current goals, and regularly experiment and design product solutions that incorporate user feedback through multiple iterations.
  • Successfully track and act quickly and strategically based on key performance measures including: net promotor score, customer satisfaction, time on page and number of assets read, bounce rate, scroll depth, click-through rate (CTR), social shares, comments and interactions, subscription/newsletter signups, and return visitors.
  • Drive the product organization to understand the desired user experience and work with the design team to create meaningful and relevant user experiences.
  • Understand business considerations, the competitive landscape, and product development best practices to deliver strategic initiatives within a fast-paced, aggressive environment.
  • Leverage WBD and external expertise around career laddering, functional capabilities to provide clear direction for career development and growth for the team
  • Advocate and adjust to the right ratios of product, technology and design across the organization 
  • Build and manage a collaborative and high-performing team.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • Leadership: You have 10+ years of successful progression with product related roles, preferably within the media industry. Demonstrated ability to communicate across the organization, and with/to the executive leadership team. Experience driving improvement and internal systems through functional design, development, and management of key capabilities that align with digital strategy and goals. The ability to lead change correlates to this leader’s ability to influence digital content owners to adopt and enhance their use of the system – championing innovative features and platform enhancements.
  • Growth: You have deep experience with data-driven insights and performance to guide decision-making, leaning heavily on AI/ML tools to create efficiency and depth of understanding regarding user behavior and platform performance.
  • Strategy: You have senior Product Management experience with a branded, subscription-based or member-based product or service where maximizing customer LTV requires diligent CRM, and delivering an ongoing superior user experience based on usability, value, and quality. Must know how to tailor both content and delivery, optimizing UI and UX to drive engagement and loyalty – done jointly with editorial and marketing teams which are primarily responsible for generating content, and acquisition and retention marketing.
  • People Management and Collaboration: You are a people manager with 10+ years of experience. You have an inclusive mindset. You can coach and motivate your team.
  • Execution: You have managed complex work and delivered results on time. You are aggressive about your goals and have helped your team manage tradeoffs. You have collaborated cross functionally, working with other functions and squads to shared success. You are ruthlessly focused on delivering strategic, impactful work.
  • The person must have experience building and managing high-performing teams in the past.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $196,706.00 - $365,310.00 salary per year.
