Sr. Administrator, Copyright Administration
Part of The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for TWDC, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing, and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally, and licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
The role will actively administer Disney-owned and controlled music publishing catalogs and will act as a subject-matter expert on domestic (with some knowledge of foreign) collective management organizations, composer work-for-hire agreements and related documentation, and all aspects of music copyright administration, and will include other duties pertaining to the daily operations of Disney Music Group (“DMG”).
Responsibilities:
Complete day-to-day publishing administration responsibilities under the direction of Senior Manager, Copyright Administration, including the following:
Perform general song catalog administration and maintenance tasks (e.g., song entry in DMG Publishing royalty system, song matching, suspense, and error income maintenance)
Register Disney catalog titles with the US & Canadian Performing Rights Organizations (PROs)
Interface with various departments to obtain necessary rights agreements and documentation, analyzing them for accurate administration
Review and analyze music cue sheets to ensure proper financial allocations
Proactively research and resolve conflicts/counterclaims to maximize DMG Publishing income
Manage and respond to copyright inquiries from department staff, senior management, and other Disney business units
Collaborate effectively with Creative Executives, Business Affairs, Accounting, Finance, and A&R teams to fulfill responsibilities
Prepare insightful analyses, special projects, and reports as required
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in music publishing
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Robust understanding of music publishing administration procedures
In-depth knowledge of performing/mechanical rights & intellectual property rights
Working knowledge of royalty accounting procedures
Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
Excellent written & oral communication
Strong analytical abilities
Dedicated work ethic with strong ability to multitask
Self-starter, team player, initiative-taker, multi-tasker
Proficiency with Office 365
Strong command of Vistex/Counterpoint/iMaestro/Maestro 400 (AS400)
