Summary

Canva seeks a Global Equity Operations Lead to manage and scale its global equity-based compensation programs. This role, part of the Corporate Legal team, requires close collaboration with People, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Tax, and Payroll. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of equity program operations and administration; ensuring accurate data and reporting; partnering with the People team for reports and data to support leadership; managing equity pool allocation; driving improvements in cross-functional processes; and educating employees on equity compensation. The ideal candidate is a Certified Equity Professional (Level 3) with experience in late-stage private companies and IPOs at a global technology company, expertise in various equity plans and jurisdictions, and strong understanding of US and global equity taxation and compliance.

Canva is looking for a Global Equity Operations Lead who will head the team responsible for the scaling, operation and administration of our global equity-based compensation programs. This role will be part of Canva’s Corporate Legal team, and will involve fostering and maintaining close, continuous partnerships with our People, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Tax and Payroll teams.

Our Global Equity Operations Lead will have a huge impact in ensuring Canva maintains best-in-class global equity programs that grow with the company.

What you’ll do:

  • Managing all aspects of the scaling, operation and administration of our equity programs
  • Responsible for accurate data and reporting of equity, collaborating with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate reporting
  • Partnering closely with the People team to prepare and provide reports, data and other materials to support leadership team benchmarking, equity grant cycles, and board and committee meetings and actions.
  • Management of equity pool, monitoring the allocation and utilization of equity pools across various equity programs and employee groups
  • Driving improvements and synergies by partnering with cross-functional teams, including People, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Tax, and Payroll on various equity compensation matters and processes
  • Ensuring the employee experience is at the forefront, educating our employees on equity compensation, tools and processes.
  • Staying informed about regulatory changes and industry best practices related to equity compensation in locations where Canva operates across the globe.

You're probably a match if:

  • You are a Certified Equity Professional, Level 3, with late-stage private company as well as IPO experience at a global technology company
  • You have deep experience with equity plans which offer a variety of awards, including stock options, RSUs and performance-based awards, in a variety of jurisdictions
  • You are a Shareworks expert with advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, vlookup, macros, etc.
  • You have a strong understanding of U.S. federal, state and global equity taxation and regulatory and compliance matters related to equity programs
  • You have experience with U.S. GAAP and SOX
  • You have demonstrated success as a collaborative team player committed to leading through rapid growth and international expansion
  • You have strong leadership and team management skills
  • You have the ability to explain complex data and trends in an accessible manner

The target salary range for this position is $218,000-$334,000. When calculating offers, we make salary decisions based on market data and candidates' skills and experience.
