This contract role with Onward Search is for an Operations Specialist in the Global Network Operations Center of a leading video game company. Responsibilities include acting as a first responder to triage network issues, driving resolution of player-impacting problems, managing access requests, adjusting alerts, documenting incidents, and improving workflows. The ideal candidate possesses strong Linux, networking, and cloud knowledge, experience with various monitoring and logging tools, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. The role is fully remote with a duration of 7-12 months.

We’re looking to hire a Operations Specialist, Global Network Operations Center for a leading video game company. A globally renowned gaming leader that combines cutting-edge innovation with a collaborative, inclusive culture, empowering creators to shape iconic, immersive gaming experiences. 

You’ll join the Network operation team to ensure global service reliability through proactive monitoring, incident response, and process improvement. This is a 7-12 month of contract opportunity. The role is a fully Remote.

Operations Specialist, Global Network Operations Center Responsibilities:  

  • Employing your systems/network/cloud knowledge as a first responder to triage problems and improve accuracy of detection 

  • Driving player and user impacting issues to resolution 

  • Performing routine follow-ups on active incidents to ensure the resolution is progressing as expected 

  • Processing routine requests for access, ACL, network, and systems maintenance 

  • Adjusting alert triggers to reduce false positive alerts 

  • Managing engagement, documentation, and stakeholder communications during critical service outages 

  • Reviewing, correcting, and tuning documentation including but not limited to runbooks, troubleshooting guides, user guides, processes, and procedures 

  • Building positive and collaborative relationships across the company 

  • Love to solve novel and exciting problems

  • Are comfortable digging through metrics, logs, and whatever other data is available to triage and fix an incident

Operations Specialist, Global Network Operations Center Requirements:  

  • Linux (bash, debugging, tuning) 

  • Networking (triaging, packet loss, routing, ACLs) 

  • Monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Datadog, Cloudwatch, GCP Operations, LogicMonitor) 

  • Alert Correlation Platforms (BigPanda, ScienceLogic, Tivoli/Netcool) 

  • Cloud Services and Architecture (AWS, GCP, OpenStack) 

  • Service Operations Framework/Workflows (ITIL, Incident/Problem/Event/Change Management, DMAIC) 

  • Logging (Splunk, SysLog, ELK Stack, Linux Journal, grep) 

  • Source Control (GitHub Enterprise, Perforce, SVN) CI/CD (Jenkins, Argo, Spinnaker) 

  • Configuration Management (Puppet, Hiera, Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, Consul) 

  • Container Computing (Docker, Kubernetes, Service Mesh) 

  • Proxies and Load Balancing (Nginx, HAProxy, Envoy)

To qualify for our benefits package, you must work over 30 hours per week and the length of assignment must be a minimum of 10 weeks.
