Job Description

The Business Development Manager will focus on growing new accounts and new customers in the target industry by having subject matter expertise, strong relationships, and excellent value messaging. They are responsible for prospecting new targets, building Customer relationships, and closing new business aligned with Buckman's strategic growth priorities. Responsibilities include seeking out new opportunities at target accounts, introducing new customers to Buckman as the first point of contact, articulating Buckman's value proposition, and converting leads to trials to new customers at new mills with no Buckman presence. The role also involves maintaining a deep understanding of prospect customer's goals, strategy, and needs, owning the customer relationship until close, and effectively communicating the benefits of Buckman offerings by articulating value proposition to customers.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pulp & Paper, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology.
  • 10 years proven sales record preferably in chemical sales.
  • Mastery at Insight Selling
  • Demonstrated understanding of business/finance and terminology
Good to have:
  • Pulp & Paper Degree
  • Specific training in pulp and paper science

Position Summary

Business Development Manager will focus on growing new accounts and new customers in target industry by having subject matter expertise, strong relationships, and excellent value messaging. They are responsible for prospecting new targets, building Customer relationships, and closing new business aligned with Buckman’s strategic growth priorities. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Seek out new opportunities at target accounts (not existing accounts) prioritized by GSM, Sales Director, and RSM
  • Introduce new customers to Buckman as the first point of contact, articulate Buckman's value proposition, and convert leads to trials to new customers at new mills with no Buckman presence
  • Maintain a deep understanding of prospect customer's goals, strategy, and needs that Buckman can solve 
  • Own the customer relationship until close; responsible for smooth handoff to service rep and sales executive
  • Effectively communicate the benefits of Buckman offerings by articulating value proposition to customers

Minimum Requirements to Apply  

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university 
  • Pulp & Paper, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology. Pulp & Paper Degree preferred. 
  • 10 years proven sales record  preferably in chemical sales. Specific training in pulp and paper science 
  • Mastery at Insight Selling
  • Demonstrated understanding of business/finance and terminology desirable. 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • 10 years + proven sales track record
  • 10 years + of chemical or pulp and paper industry experience
  • Solid understanding of smart digital solutions and can identify customer opportunities
