Job Summary
Job Description
As a Network Test Engineer at Google, you'll ensure the peak performance of Google's massive network. Responsibilities include identifying and reporting bugs, developing and executing test plans (including automation using Python or C++), managing testing and releases of networking products, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on test plans and results. You'll work with complex networking equipment and protocols, contributing to device hardware and software improvements. The role requires expertise in network protocols, test design, and IP network design. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring Google's technology performs at scale.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or equivalent
- 2+ years experience in network testing and debugging
- Experience with test methodologies, plans, and cases
- Test automation experience (Python or C++)
- Identify and report bugs; escalate issues
Good to have:
- Experience with Network Infrastructure

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with network equipment and network protocols testing and debugging.
- Experience with test methodologies, writing test plans and creating test cases.
- Experience in test automation using Python or C++.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Network Infrastructure, Python, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and Networking Protocols.

You have experience with complex networking equipment, a deep understanding of networking protocols, test design and implementation chops and a background in IP network design. It's your job to make sure Google's cutting-edge technology can perform at scale. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Identify and report bugs, including escalating issues to senior engineers or managers.
- Develop and execute test plans, including contributing to device hardware and software by developing automated scripts and running regression on existing Google platforms.
- Manage testing and releases of networking products, including managing timelines and project plans.
- Write and review test plans with teams, including identifying and gathering requirements to test networking features of a moderate to high-complexity project, participate in cross-functional reviews with related teams which cover test plans and test results.
