The VFX Technical Supervisor at One Of Us leads the implementation and optimization of USD and Solaris workflows across all VFX disciplines. This role involves close collaboration with the Pipeline team, HODs, CG Supervisors, and the Head of VFX to ensure workflows align with company goals, enhance production efficiency, and meet creative and technical needs. Responsibilities include designing, rolling out, and optimizing USD and Solaris workflows; developing tools and templates; mentoring teams; troubleshooting technical challenges; and ensuring seamless data interchange. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, along with deep expertise in USD and Solaris in production environments.

The VFX Technical Supervisor leads the implementation, optimization, and adoption of USD and Solaris workflows across all VFX disciplines. Collaborating closely with the Pipeline team, HODs, CG Supervisors, and the Head of VFX, they ensure these workflows align with company goals, enhance production efficiency, and meet both creative and technical requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead the design, rollout, and optimization of USD and Solaris workflows, ensuring integration across all departments.

  • Work closely with the Pipeline team to develop tools, templates, and scalable solutions that address production challenges.

  • Partner with the Head of VFX and department leads to align technical workflows with creative goals and production needs.

  • Mentor teams to adopt and utilize USD and Solaris workflows effectively, fostering technical growth and collaboration.

  • Proactively identify and resolve workflow challenges, collaborating with Pipeline, HODs, and Supervisors.

Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of USD and Solaris workflows, ensuring seamless data interchange and cross-departmental compatibility.

  • Collaborate with the Pipeline team to troubleshoot technical challenges and maintain the stability of USD workflows.

  • Refine and standardize USD and Solaris processes to ensure efficiency and alignment with the overall pipeline.

  • Act as the primary technical authority for USD and Solaris workflows, driving innovation and consistency across all disciplines.



Creative and Artistic Support:

  • Ensure USD and Solaris workflows enable artists to achieve the highest creative standards with technical reliability.

  • Provide technical guidance to creative teams, balancing artistic vision with efficient workflows.

  • Collaborate with Supervisors and the Pipeline team to align technical solutions with creative requirements.

Workflow Optimization and Development:

  • Regularly assess USD and Solaris workflows, prioritizing scalability, automation, and efficiency improvements.

  • Work with Pipeline to create tools and processes that reduce manual tasks and streamline production workflows.

  • Stay informed on advancements in USD, Solaris, and related technologies, integrating cutting-edge solutions into the studio pipeline.

Aims of the Role:

  • Successfully implement and optimize USD and Solaris workflows as core components of the studio pipeline.

  • Build strong partnerships with the Pipeline team, HODs, and Supervisors to address both technical and creative needs.

  • Develop workflows that empower artists and enhance production efficiency.

  • Continuously improve and innovate USD and Solaris workflows, maintaining the studio's technical leadership.

Experience needed

  • Proven experience implementing USD and Solaris workflows in collaboration with a Pipeline team.

  • Extensive knowledge of USD, Solaris, and their integration into VFX pipelines.

  • Strong track record of leading teams and managing complex technical projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable solutions in partnership with Pipeline and creative leads.

  • Experience mentoring and developing teams in the adoption of USD and Solaris technologies.



While the studio strives to protect teams from excessive working hours, some flexibility may be required to meet project deadlines, including occasional extended hours or weekends.

One of Us require candidates to reside in the UK or France, depending on the location of the role, or must be willing to relocate for the duration of the contract. All candidates must disclose if they have an existing Right to Work in the relevant country, or would require sponsorship support, i.e. Visa.
