The Senior Financial Analyst at Disney Entertainment & ESPN (DE&E) Technology will partner with senior Technology leaders to develop strategic financial plans (annual budget, long-range plan, quarterly forecasts). Responsibilities include preparing forecasts, variance analysis for Engineering Services, developing forecasting models, managing quarterly close activities, building relationships with stakeholders, conducting strategic analysis, and supporting cost allocation processes. The role requires collaboration with various teams, including Accounting, Controllership, and Technology leaders across the company. The successful candidate will analyze trends, create presentations for senior leaders, and contribute to the overall financial success of DE&E Technology, supporting Disney's Direct-to-Consumer products and broadcast networks.

As a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) in Financial Planning and Analysis, you will partner and strategize with senior Technology leaders to be part of the change. As a Senior Financial Analyst with DE&E Technology Finance, you will collaborate with senior Technology leaders on a regular basis to prepare strategic financial plans for key forecast periods (annual budget, long-range plan, and quarterly forecasts). You will also work closely with Accounting and Controllership on the recurring quarterly close process. This role will be responsible for managing the Engineering Services functional area under DE&E Technology.  Engineering Services plays a vital role in delivering Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer products to our customers and fans, as well as powering Disney’s broadcast and cable networks. As we support this dynamic space, our goal is to develop the DE&E Technology Finance team into a premier organization that can carry Technology into the future.

This position will be based in Bristol, CT and reports to the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis for DE&E Technology.

Responsibilities:

In DE&E Technology, every day is different! In Technology, change is constant, and operations are dynamic, so we must be flexible. On any one day you might:

  • Prepare forecasts, annual operating plan (AOP), long-range plan (LRP), and variance analysis for Engineering Services pillar as directed by Segment and Corporate FP&A.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive forecasting model for supported areas; present forecasts and actuals to budget owners during forecast cycles and manage quarterly close activities.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key Technology stakeholders, including senior executives, chiefs of staff, budget owners, and engineers, to update forecasts, report actuals, and analyze trends.

  • Evaluate risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to Finance and Technology leaders throughout the year.

  • Conduct ad-hoc strategic analysis and reporting as requested by Technology leaders, lines of business (LOBs), and/or the Finance Consolidations team.

  • Collaborate with Technology leaders and stakeholders across The Walt Disney Company to map costs to a catalogue of services provided to internal clients; support the Allocations process to ensure that client P&Ls are appropriately charged for services provided by DE&E Technology.

  • Manage quarterly close activities by working with Accounting to prepare accruals, reclasses, prepaid expenses, and various journal entries as necessary; report variance explanations as part of a quarterly close package.

  • Analyze trends to support storytelling and influence decision-making.

  • Contribute to presentations for review with senior leaders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience

  • Collaborative mindset combined with the ability to work independently

  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skillset

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Intellectual curiosity

  • Executive presence; comfortable and confident engaging with senior leaders

  • Experience with ERP software such as SAP and COGNOS preferred but not required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting

  • Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. MBA, CPA) preferred but not required
