Your New Role...

With a thorough knowledge of the WBD brands and franchises, strong writing and editing skills and a finger on the pulse of what our fans want, this Manager position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the editorial and content development process to support and in collaboration with the licensed publishing team. Working closely with our global publishing licensees, oversee the development of engaging and inclusive editorial content and strong and curated publishing plans that reflect industry and consumer trends, product innovations, franchise initiatives and support key category strategies.  

Your Role ccountabilities...

  • Executes WBCP and Publishing strategy and goals.

  • Owns all aspects of the editorial and content development process including review and approval of global publishing submissions through StarLabs in direct consultation with the Product Development team, the development and procurement of creative assets and securing feedback, clearances and approvals from internal and external stakeholders.

  • Directly manages global publishing licensees to develop product assortments and execute closely curated publishing plans that reflect consumer trends, product innovations, brand and franchise initiatives and support our key strategies.

  • Supports the improvement and evolution of publishing planning process for future efficiencies.

  • Supports the management of the content creative needs and budget.

  • Collaborate with Category in developing and executing long and medium term publishing strategies, pitching the global portfolio of Warner Bros. brands to existing and prospective publishing licensees, providing input on contract negotiations and reviewing marketing collateral for accuracy.

  • Manages the publishing databases on Airtable including the master publishing plan, co-edition deal tracker, global catalog, and the digital files library.

  • Identifies, develops and executes new business initiatives to address white space opportunities.

  • Interfaces frequently with management providing business updates, internal and external formal presentations and participate in strategy discussions.

  • Identifies and applies competitive and industry key learnings, trends and product innovations.

Qualifications & Experience...

Work Experience

5 plus years of experience in Publishing industry with background in Licensing preferred

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

BA degree in English, communications, journalism or related field or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Proven and effective written and oral communication skills

  • Proven ability to develop publishing content

  • Knowledge of key trends in the entertainment industry: publishing, film, animation, television, gaming

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Proven and effective interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with internal and external partners

  • Must have ability to communicate and collaborate effectively cross-functionally, with senior management and with external partners

  • Must demonstrate flexibility and effectiveness when faced with changing schedules or priorities

  • Strong organizational and planning skills required

  • Strong strategy, digital and analytical skills

  • Strong licensing acumen

  • Proven ability to execute strategic and operational plans

  • Sharp attention to detail

  • Strong and varied computer software knowledge required (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Airtable, Teams, Zoom)

  • Knowledge of retail landscape: key retailers, buying cycles, sell-in process, etc.

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $83,090.00 - $154,310.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
