Job Summary:

Manager, Production Operations will be responsible for supporting the operational and technical needs of all ABC News productions, both linear and digital. This role will oversee daily show operations through scheduling Union and Non-Union staff for multiple control rooms and studio crew assigned to them. This role will handle coordinating control room coverage, daily broadcast setup, studio/remote production, while also assisting in payroll and operational purchasing needs. The Manager, Production Operations will work closely with the Directors, Producers, Logistics Desk, and Network Acquisition Center and schedule appropriate studio and remote crew and facilities to meet the evolving needs of the shows.

What You Will Do

  • Manage and lead a diverse team, including DGA, NABET, IATSE employees (Local 1, Local 829, Local 764, and Local 798).
  • Oversee control room coverage, daily show setup.
  • Collaborate closely with the show Director, Logistics Desk, and Network Acquisition Center.
  • Schedule studio crew, as well as facilities, to adapt to changing show needs.
  • Work closely with show production staff to maintain budgetary control for daily operations.
  • Manage all show special events.
  • Respond promptly to breaking news.
  • Apply extensive knowledge in interpreting and applying contracts to assist with cost-saving measures.
  • Hire, schedule, and manage payroll for employees working at ABC Facilities
  • Negotiate and enforce Collective Bargaining Agreements with Unions.
  • Handle the moving of productions between studios and locations.
  • Assist in the purchase of technical production equipment used by ABC facilities and productions.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in television production, with a focus on operations and management.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • 5+ years experience working in a media environment.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including early mornings, weekends, and evenings.
  • Ensure 24/7 operational coverage of all ABC News programming.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $94,800 to $130,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
