Gearbox Studio seeks a Technical Designer to collaborate with the design team and other disciplines. Responsibilities include leading the development of interactive objects and scripted events, contributing to prototyping, ensuring content meets various constraints, identifying tooling needs, and monitoring level performance. Candidates should have experience across all game development stages (3+ games), familiarity with Unreal Engine 4 or 5, strong scripting skills, and a deep understanding of AAA action game development and performance optimization. Proficiency in French is required.

MISSION 

En tant que concepteur technique, vous travaillerez en étroite collaboration avec le concepteur technique expert, l'équipe de conception et les autres corps de métier pour établir les standards de développement assurant la création de contenu performant, robuste et de haute qualité. 

  

RESPONSABILITÉS 

  • Prise en charge du développement d'objets interactifs, d'évènements scriptés et d'autres éléments de contenu plus complexes. 
  • Collaboration au prototypage et au processus itératif, du papier jusqu'à l'engin. 
  • Collaboration avec les autres corps de métier pour que le contenu respecte leurs propres contraintes et objectifs. 
  • Identification des besoins en outillage et collaboration dans leur création. 
  • Surveillance des statistiques de performance des niveaux et identification des éléments problématiques. 

  

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Avoir travaillé sur plus de 3 jeux et avoir connu toutes les étapes de développement, de la conception à la livraison. 
  • Familiarité avec d’Unreal Engine 4 ou 5 
  • Aptitudes en scripting autant en contexte de prototypage que de production finale 
  • Maîtriser les concepts de mémoire, de performance et leur application dans un engin de jeu moderne 
  • Compréhension approfondie des jeux d’action AAA modernes et des pratiques de production. 
  • Avoir de l'expérience des jeux FPS ou des titres d'action en 3D est considéré un atout 
  • Connaissance du français, autant à l'oral qu'à l'écrit

MISSION 

As a Technical Designer, you will work closely with the Senior Technical Designer, the design team, and other disciplines to establish development standards that ensure the creation of performant, robust, and high-quality content. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead the development of interactive objects, scripted events, and other complex content elements. 
  • Contribute to prototyping and the iterative process, from paper concepts to the engine. 
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure the content meets their constraints and objectives. 
  • Identify tooling needs and assist in their creation. 
  • Monitor level performance statistics and identify problematic elements. 

 

 QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience working on 3 or more games, having participated in all stages of development, from concept to delivery. 
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4 or 5. 
  • Strong scripting skills, applicable in both prototyping and final production contexts. 
  • Solid understanding of memory and performance concepts and their application in a modern game engine. 
  • Deep understanding of modern AAA action games and production practices. 
  • Experience with FPS or 3D action titles is considered an asset. 
  • Proficiency in French (spoken and written) is required.
