Summary

Elsewhere Entertainment seeks a Senior UX Designer to contribute to a new IP's development. Collaborating with developers, you'll design UX for game content implementation tools, streamline pipelines, and contribute to the studio's overall vision. Responsibilities include partnering with leadership to set vision and direction, creating UX rules and principles, working with other teams on technical solutions, taking ownership of UX design in the toolset (from ideation to implementation), supporting and mentoring junior designers, analyzing and developing technical design features, creating documentation and communication materials, implementing systems in proprietary tools, collaborating with various teams, providing feedback, and staying updated on industry trends. This role requires proven experience (8+ years) shipping AAA titles in UX design roles and experience with game development tools like Unity or Unreal.
Must have:
  • 8+ years AAA title UX design experience
  • Game development tool experience (Unity, Unreal)
  • Excellent communication and vision alignment skills
  • Experience with multiplayer game development and client-server architecture
  • Ownership of UX design from ideation to implementation
Good to have:
  • UX experience in software development outside game dev

Job Description:

Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join the development of a new IP.   
 
Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly-skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining! 

You will join the Technical Design department and work on UX for game content implementation tools. You will also streamline the pipelines and workflows for implementing game content. 

Also, you’ll contribute to take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, integrity, and collaboration.  

You’ll help us by…  

  • Partner with the CTO, Technical Director, and Content Director to set the overall vision and direction for the tools 

  • Create and drive vision of the UX rules and principles for the whole toolset 

  • Work together with other teams on technical solutions, pipelines and tools supporting every aspect of game implementation.  

  • Take ownership of UX design in toolset – from ideation to final quality implementation.  

  • Support hires, training and mentoring of technical UX designers.  

  • Analyze, pitch, prototype, and develop technical design features, systems, and tools for an unannounced AAA project. 

  • Create high level documentation with companywide UX guidelines. 

  • Create one-page pitches, tools & pipelines briefs, system outlines, and whatever other communication tools are vital for succinctly and effectively communicating technical design.  

  • Leverage technical expertise to implement systems in proprietary tools.  

  • Collaborate with multiple fields, ensuring partners are involved and informed throughout development.  

  • Provide regular active feedback across all your features and the toolset.  

  • Remain current on industry trends including new game engines, new UX techniques, and trending work excellence.  

You’re awesome because you have…  

  • Proven experience (8+ years) shipping AAA titles in UX design roles.  

  • Ability to communicate design vision and to align vision within the team.  

  • Experience with versatile game development tools such as Unity, Unreal, or similar proprietary tools.  

  • Extensive player experience with games, including action, RPG, open world, and online titles.  

  • Ouststanding self-motivation and initiative, and a positive demeanor in the face of challenges.  

  • Experienced in developing multiplayer games and understand the functioning of client – server architecture. 

Bonus points for…  

  • Enjoyment of playing a variety of video game genres and titles 

  • Proven experience in UX for software development outside of the game dev industry
