Epic Games seeks a Senior Technical Artist for their LEGO Fortnite team in Montreal. This role involves creating Unreal Engine 5 tools to enhance workflow efficiency, gather performance data, analyze results, and implement improvements. Responsibilities include balancing visual fidelity with performance/memory costs across platforms, optimizing for quality, and setting industry standards. The ideal candidate will provide guidance, develop tools, communicate optimization plans, prioritize tasks, utilize profiling tools (Unreal Engine 5, Renderdoc, LLGD), and elevate quality on lower-end platforms through optimization strategies and best practices. The position requires experience in AAA console, PC, Switch, and/or mobile game development, expertise in profiling, scripting, optimization, and procedural workflows, and a strong understanding of real-time rendering best practices.
Must have:
  • AAA game experience (console, PC, mobile)

Ce que vous ferez

Epic Games est à la recherche d’un artiste technique sénior pour son équipe LEGO Fortnite. Cette personne créera des outils pour le moteur afin d’améliorer l’efficacité des processus de travail, de capturer des données liées aux performances, d’effectuer des analyses et de générer des plans d’amélioration. Les principaux défis consisteront à maintenir le bon équilibre entre la fidélité visuelle et le coût en matière de performance ou de mémoire sur toutes les plateformes, à présenter nos jeux sous leur meilleur jour en matière de qualité et à définir la norme au sein du secteur.

Ce dont vous serez responsable

  • Fournir des directives et développer des outils directement dans Unreal Engine 5 pour améliorer l’efficacité des processus de travail.
  • Communiquer les plans d’optimisation à plusieurs équipes. Définir les priorités et les plans d’exécution.
  • Utiliser les outils de profilage d’Unreal Engine 5 et d’autres logiciels similaires comme Renderdoc ou LLGD.
  • Élever la norme en matière de qualité sur les plateformes bas de gamme grâce à des plans d’optimisation et l’application des pratiques exemplaires.

Ce que nous recherchons

  • Expérience de travail sur des jeux AAA pour console, PC, et/ou Switch et mobile.
  • Expérience dans plusieurs de ces piliers : le profilage, les scripts, l’optimisation et les processus de travail procéduraux.
  • Solide compréhension des pratiques exemplaires de rendu en temps réel dans un environnement de rendu physique réaliste.
  • Approche hautement collaborative axée sur les partenariats avec des artistes et des programmeurs.
  • Connaissance d'Unreal Engine 5 et une logique axée sur des nœuds comme Blueprints.
  • Recueillir des données de rendement, effectuer des analyses et créer des demandes en matière d'améliorations.
  • Capacité à s'ajuster et innover en lien avec de nouvelles technologies. 

Compétences utiles

  • Connaissances de Python et/ou C++.
  • Expérience dans la mise en œuvre de jeux sur Switch et/ou mobile.
  • Expérience de travail dans le cadre d’un jeu de service en direct palpitant.
