Software Engineer Intern - Masters

About the Team:
The Search Platform team is responsible for powering the majority of PlayStation’s search functionality. We manage the indexing of various types of data, interpreting queries, and delivering relevant content in a logical order.
Our high-traffic, revenue-sensitive, and mission-critical search system is integral to the PlayStation experience. If you're excited about diving into technical challenges while making a tangible business impact, this is the right team for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Understand PlayStation's search system and develop new functionalities to improve content discovery for users.
- Enhance the quality of the search system.
- Support the team in addressing and resolving issues or requests related to search functionality.
What We’re Looking For:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a Master’s degree, with an expected graduation by Spring 2026.
- Some experience programming in Java.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Some experience in the software industry.
- Interest in search systems
- Interest in machine learning techniques
Eligibility:
- Able to work during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 16th - September 5th.
- Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
- Open to students who are U.S. citizens or international students with an F-1 visa.
- Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
Intern Pay Range
$45 — $54 USD
