Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting processes, including sales commissions, fixed assets, customer master data, month-end transactions, and sales tax returns. The ideal candidate will work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across various accounting functions, while also implementing technology improvements to streamline processes. This role is critical in supporting the accuracy of payroll, financial reports, and tax filings.
Job Responsibilities:
Sales Commissions Management:
Ensure all sales employees' commissions are updated in the Commission system, reflecting monthly changes
Enter new sales employees into the system
Update sales commissions based on HR stats and payroll change forms
Ensure accurate commission payments through payroll
Implement process improvements using technology for automation, improving accuracy and consistency
Load and analyze data in PCM from SAP, ensuring models and account assignments are correct
Identify and resolve potential CTC issues in PCM
Fixed Asset Management:
Ensure the SAP Fixed Asset subledger is balanced, with updated dimensionality and monthly depreciation
Close internal orders into new fixed assets
Set up and maintain new assets with correct dimensionality, reflecting changes, transfers, or disposals
Create Diwali assets monthly and ensure depreciation is run at month-end
Prepare fixed asset reconciliations and Grow Roll forward reports
Customer Master Data Maintenance:
Administer the creation and maintenance of customer accounts in SAP
Ensure adherence to global financial standards for new customer creation
Maintain dimensions for each customer for proper month-end reporting and sales commissions
Continue to develop Zflow for managing customer data
Month-End Close:
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all month-end journal entries
Perform account reconciliations
Enter COPA entries for 1030 and prepare shipped-not-invoiced entries
Implement technology improvements to enhance the month-end close process
Sales Tax Compliance:
Perform sales tax reconciliations by state, county, or city as needed
Process and verify returns using Vertex
Ensure timely payments of sales tax by state
Complete related journal entries promptly and accurately
Additional Accounting Functions:
Complete quarterly California pesticide reports
Manage yearly business licenses
Support continuous process improvement initiatives and strategic projects within the Accounting Department
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
5-10 years of experience in accounting; including fixed asset and SAP Cash experience
Proficiency with SAP and PCM systems, with the ability to analyze and load data accurately
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Experience implementing technology-based process improvements is a plus
