As a Product Manager 2 at Microsoft's Azure Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) team in Hyderabad, you'll contribute to the development and improvement of data protection services for Azure. Responsibilities include conducting customer research, competitive benchmarking, writing feature specifications, coordinating with other teams, identifying problems through scenario walkthroughs, collecting performance metrics, managing customer communities, and assisting with marketing and rollout plans. You will work across all stages of the product lifecycle, from definition and planning to release, maintenance, and deprecation. The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, a customer-centric approach, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. You'll help define features, integrate them into the roadmap, and engage partner support for feature development.

In the era of ever-increasing cyber threats and dependencies, data protection is key for enterprises to run their production workloads on the cloud. Azure Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) services are on a mission to provide customers with assured protection for all their workloads (VMs, Databases, Containers, File Servers, Storage Services Data), running on any cloud (on-premises, edge, and Azure Cloud) and Hypervisors/Containers. Our data protection platform goes beyond just backups and disaster recovery to provide fit-for-purpose experiences for customers to manage threats like ransomware. Determining a scalable model for protection and allowing consistent management across all clouds is the key.

As a Product Management Specialist in Azure BCDR, you will help the team conduct customer research, compete benchmarking, and write specs for features that drive product adoption and success. This role gives you the opportunity to develop deep business acumen, hone your skills to understand customer needs, pitch ideas in a structured way and deliver value to the customers through new features and experience improvements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

 

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • You will develop the ability to define a feature and will assist others in facilitating usability reviews with customers. You’ll understand how your own feature integrates with the general roadmap, and will coordinate with others to identify problems through scenario walkthroughs.
  • You will learn to understand one or more success criteria of a feature. You’ll also help identify short-term investment opportunities and help engage partner support for a feature.
  • You will help others collect performance metrics and form hypotheses to incrementally improve product development in specific areas. You’ll also learn to manage customer communities and help build trust with targeted customers.
  • You will works across all stages of product lifecycle from product definition, planning, release, modifications, maintenance, and feature deprecation.
  • You will assist Product Managers by helping build marketing, roll-out plans, and customer support plans. You’ll also promote the feature you worked on and present at small events.
