Job Description

As a Software Engineer II-Frontend at Microsoft's Viva Engage team, you'll develop cutting-edge, user-friendly features and experiences for a web platform reaching tens of millions. Responsibilities include building reusable code, creating responsive and accessible interfaces, integrating with other M365 apps, conducting A/B testing, and optimizing for performance and scalability. You'll collaborate with design, product, and engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions and improve the product based on data-driven decisions. The ideal candidate possesses strong front-end skills (React, Redux, etc.) and a passion for creating delightful user experiences.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS or related field and 2+ years experience
Proficiency in modern web technologies (TypeScript, React, Redux)
Experience with web markup (CSS3, HTML5)
Develop user-facing features
Build reusable code and libraries
Optimize for performance and scalability

Good to have:

Broad experience across multiple FE technologies
Understanding of cross-browser/device interfaces
Performance optimization expertise (FMP, TTI, bundle size)
Troubleshooting and performance tuning skills

As a Front-End engineer, you will develop innovative new features and experiences, run experiments to learn and improve the product, and add core capabilities to our web platform with an eye to performance and accessibility. We are looking for someone who is passionate about delighting users, has an eye for craftsmanship and an opinion about what makes a great user experience.  Our stack includes React, Redux, Relay, GraphQL API gateway and Azure Cloud Services.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Understanding of modern web tech stack e.g. TypeScript, React, Redux, Webpack, Jest.
Experience in web markup including CSS3, HTML5.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Broad experience across multiple FE technologies.
Good understanding of best practices of building cross browser and device independent interfaces.
Expertise improving performance (FMP, TTI, bundle size, etc).
Solid troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Holistic understanding of client technology including front-end, API, networking, and the browser itself.
