Job Description

Axon seeks an Auditor - IT & Accounting Process to join their Corporate Audit team. This hybrid role (Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO preferred; other locations considered) requires 1-2 years of audit experience (Big 4 preferred), a CPA, CIA, or CISA designation, and experience auditing ITGCs, business processes, and reports using SOX methodology. Responsibilities include executing testing procedures, coordinating walkthroughs, performing data analysis, preparing audit workpapers, investigating control deficiencies, preparing audit reports, facilitating external auditor requests, conducting non-SOX audits, identifying process improvements, and collaborating with teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with data analytics tools (Alteryx, Tableau, etc.) and auditing specific software (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, etc.) is preferred.
Must have:
  • 1-2 years audit experience
  • CPA, CIA, or CISA designation
  • SOX methodology experience
  • ITGCs and business process audit experience
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
Good to have:
  • Big 4 experience
  • Data analytics tool experience (Alteryx, Tableau)

Your Impact

You will be master of both IT risk and business/accounting processes, playing a pivotal role on our dynamic Corporate Audit team and annual SOX audit. Your ability to tie together these two audit worlds will make you a crucial knowledge resource of Axon’s intricate operations and help expand our annual audit scope. Leveraging your past audit experience, your responsibilities will include ensuring the preparation of detailed audit workpapers, communicating effectively with business stakeholders, and investigating and addressing complex issues and control deficiencies. With analytical prowess, a clear and concise communication style, and a commitment to ethical standards, you will be a key contributor to our team’s growth and impact on the organization.

What You’ll Do 

Location: Hybrid from Scottsdale, AZ; Denver, CO Preferred. Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; Atlanta, GA; Sterling, VA
Reports to: Director, IT Audit
Direct Reports: None

  • Execute testing procedures for IT and business process controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Coordinate and perform walkthrough discussions with business owners and document an understanding of control/process designs.
  • Perform data analysis to extract meaningful insights and support audit procedures.
  • Ensure the preparation of detailed and well-organized audit workpapers, documenting testing procedures, findings, and recommendations.
  • Investigate and address complex issues and control deficiencies, collaborating with management to develop effective solutions.
  • Prepare audit reports and summarize analysis and results, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Facilitate external auditor and statutory auditor requests.
  • Help deliver additional non-SOX internal audits each year.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the audit function.
  • Incorporate feedback from senior team members to enhance skills and performance.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-2 years audit experience. Big 4 experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation.
  • Experience auditing ITGCs, business process controls, and key reports against Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) methodology.

Preferred

  • Experience leveraging automation/data analytics tools to simplify audit work, such as Alteryx, Tableau, Sigma, and/or SQL.
  • Experience auditing Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce, Workday, and/or Netsuite.
  • Familiarity with AuditBoard.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with your supervisors regarding audit status, potential findings, and recommendations, as well as with external auditors and management stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail in conducting audit and testing procedures.
  • Clear and concise written communication skills; effective verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey audit findings and recommendations to the Corporate Audit team and Axon Management.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 70,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 95,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
