Technical Program Manager II - Azure Core

The Microsoft Azure Core team builds and manages the fundamental platform across compute, storage, and networking services. Our team works on core infrastructure that helps other teams in Azure deliver changes safely to our customers. Our underlying core infrastructure continues evolving over time to drive efficiency and scalability. Given the scale of Azure, each improvement made can have an incredible impact on engineering efficiency across the company, and as a result have a positive impact on every single one of our cloud customers. Our team is expanding, and this role provides the opportunity to be an early member of anew Azure engineering center in Romania.

We are looking for a program manager with technical and analytical skills, having a passion for driving great technology designs in partnership with local and remote teams. Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent technical education/experience.
• Strong technical background and solid foundation in software engineering principles.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.
• Strong cross-team collaboration skills.
• Willingness to learn and grow.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience in Software industry and product/program management experience, ideally shipping infrastructure components.
• Exposure to Cloud, Hardware, Deployment technologies, Data Analytics.
• Architecture skills in distributed systems and a great appetite for learning the foundational blocks of the Azure platform.
• Detail and results-oriented
• Passion for execution with measurable results; focus on delivering impact.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and passion for innovation.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate uncertain situations, and drive for clarity.

• Define architecture and technical requirements for foundational components in the Azure platform.
• Work with customers and partner teams to identify and prioritize maintenance, change management, deployment, and operations centric scenarios.
• Lead product planning for E2E scenarios related to the above areas.
• Define KPIs and establish and execute plans for improving those KPIs.
• Partner with software engineers on scenario design, product roadmap, and incremental delivery, to jointly deliver core capabilities that help drive improvements to Azure overall operational excellence.
• Drive broad cross team technical issues and customer experiences.
• Present to customers and use customer and partner feedback to continuously improve the product and the technology.
