As a Software Engineer at YouTube, you'll contribute to the development and maintenance of systems that power the world's largest video-sharing platform. You'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment. Responsibilities include writing product/system code, participating in design reviews, conducting code reviews, contributing to documentation, and resolving product/system issues. You will work on projects critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects. The role requires versatility, leadership, and enthusiasm for tackling full-stack challenges. Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years software development experience (Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)

Good to have:
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science
  • Experience with accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
