This Software Engineer role within Google's Messages - Spam and Abuse team in Krakow, Poland focuses on preventing spam and protecting users. Must have:
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • Backend software development experience
  • Experience with embedded OS

  • Testing, maintaining, launching software
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in CS
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures or algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience in backend software development.
  • 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience in software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience in embedded operating systems.
  • Experience in C, C++, C#, Java, Python or Go.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Phd in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience in developing accessible technologies.

Google Messages allows Android users to communicate through Short Message Service (SMS) or Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and the new Rich Communication Services (RCS) standard. As for many other successful and free products it is key to protect users from unwanted content. For this reason we are establishing in Krakow the Messages - Spam and Abuse team to expand on existing team in US. In this role, you will prevent our users from experiencing spam and prevent spammers.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Plan design reviews with peers and stakeholders to choose amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product or program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug or track or resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
