Job Description

This Software Engineer III role at Google focuses on full-stack development within Google Compute Engine. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code (Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS), participating in design reviews, contributing to documentation, debugging issues, and optimizing application performance and UX. The position requires strong experience in data structures and algorithms, and familiarity with large distributed systems is preferred. The successful candidate will contribute to shaping the future of Google's services and work on critical projects.

Must have:

2+ years full-stack development experience
Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or C++
Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS
Data structures and algorithms expertise
Code review and debugging skills

Good to have:

Master's degree in CS or related field
Experience with large distributed systems
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Experience working with large distributed systems.
Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
