Job Description

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Google Kubernetes Engine team. The role involves writing and testing code, participating in design reviews, reviewing code from other developers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include designing and implementing solutions to improve performance, scalability, and resource obtainability for workloads. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of software development experience in languages like Golang, Python, or Java, along with 2+ years in a technical leadership role. Experience with large-scale distributed systems is highly preferred. The engineer will contribute to the evolution of Kubernetes as a leading platform for infrastructure orchestration.

Must have:

5+ years software development experience
2+ years technical leadership
Proficiency in Golang, Python, C++, Java, JavaScript
Experience with data structures/algorithms
Code writing, testing, and review

Good to have:

Master's degree in Computer Science
Experience developing accessible technologies
Experience with large-scale distributed systems

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Golang, Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript) and with data structures/algorithms.
2 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience leading, designing, and implementing large-scale distributed systems.

Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product management, other engineering groups, and On-Site Support (OSS) community) to make strategic decisions impacting kubernetes evolution towards the best platform for infrastructure orchestration.
Design and implement solutions that improve performance, scalability, and resource obtainability for the workloads.
