We work in-person out of our San Francisco office and we’re big believers in face-to-face collaboration.About the roleWe’re looking for a Product Engineer to bridge the gap between design and engineering, focusing on creating seamless front-end experiences on mobile platforms. You will own feature development from start to finish, at times acting as your own product manager, and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams. You don’t need to be an illustrator, but you’re able to take an existing component library and build new frontend tools from scratch on the frontend (React &amp; Flutter) without a designer. You’re responsible for bringing Ello’s tutoring AI to life through character development and game interactions. You pay attention to the details. You want to build products that delight users.We welcome candidates from both design and engineering backgrounds, but we prioritize strong technical foundations and demonstrated execution speed.Responsibilities<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Develop and integrate front-end components for mobile and web platforms, leveraging existing design systems and brand guidelines.</li><li>Own features end-to-end, from concept to delivery</li><li>Serve as a bridge between design and engineering, moving fluidly between UX/UI and technical problem-solving.</li><li>Build new components and maintain consistency within the app.</li><li>Set up basic infrastructure, manage production workflows, and handle continuous integration and app store delivery/release processes.</li></ul> Required Experience<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Design:<ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li>Proven UI/UX design skills, with experience across both mobile and web interfaces</li><li>Very high level of attention to detail. You will own one of the fundamental areas of software development and delivery and will work closely with all engineering teams to identify and pursue opportunities to make Abnormal the most comfortable place to work. Some areas that you will be working on: CI/CD, both logic and infrastructure, Build systems, Local development, Testing approaches and insights, Effective development practices. Responsibilities include owning key areas of the Engineering Effectiveness team offerings, proposing and maintaining the roadmap for this area, working on projects that will improve the stability of the Abnormal Security platform and the ability of other engineering teams to deliver changes to the product faster and safer, identifying and addressing the areas where engineers have to make too many decisions that are not related to the business logic of the product, providing Engineering with the tools and workflows to test their changes reliably with less effort, and actively participating in stopping cybercrime with AI.

Must Haves 3+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer building backend systems and/or platforms. 3+ years of experience working with Python. Experience working on or with teams like “Engineering Effectiveness”, “Engineering Productivity”, “Development Experience” or similar. Customer obsessed: Working with our internal engineers to determine the Engineering Effectiveness roadmap. Meeting with customers to understand their needs. Experience leading and delivering projects end-to-end. Nice to Haves Experience with creating production-ready golang applications. Experience with creating and maintaining CI/CD systems. Experience with Automated Canary Analysis.
