Welcome to Amazon Games Bucharest! Joining the ranks of the existing development teams in Orange County, Montreal, San Diego and Seattle, we’re excited to expand Amazon Games’ commitment to creating and publishing incredible games, and we’re on the lookout for talented folks to join us as we grow.
As a System Development Engineer, you will work with leadership to support defining solutions from first principles through to delivery. You will be able to select the appropriate tools and technologies best suited to solve the problems at hand. You will have full access to all AWS Services and Amazon infrastructure and toolsets. You will support defining the processes and best practices for building, performing continuous integration and testing on, and releasing builds. You will also have the opportunity to use your expertise to influence how we design our customer facing technology and tools to enable an optimized pipeline for building and deploying games.
Key job responsibilities
- Maintain various services (including but not limited to Perforce, Atlassian, TestRail, and Incredibuild).
- Ability to deliver technology solutions that are tested, maintainable, optimized, and which generate positive feedback.
- Configuration and ownership of AWS service accounts, monitoring, and alarms.
- Long-range planning and deployment of new technologies as needed.
- Improve processes and internal systems across teams and organizations, with a focus on automation and documentation.
- Daily interactions with internal customers and problems on related systems.
A day in the life
Your day-to-day involves working closely with Amazonians from all Amazon Game Studios. This involves a few scheduled meetings as well as working with internal customers to resolve issues. Your daily routine includes these interactions as well as maintenance of existing services and deployment of new services.

At Amazon Games, our ambition is to create bold new experiences that foster community in and around our games. Our team of game industry veterans is developing and publishing live service AAA multiplayer games and developing original IPs, including New World: Aeternum and an upcoming title based on The Lord of the Rings, with our studios and teams in Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, Montreal, and Bucharest. Amazon Games also publishes best-in-class games in close collaboration with developers, leading with Lost Ark from Smilegate RPG, THRONE AND LIBERTY from NCSOFT, and King of Meat from Glowmade, as well as the next major entry in the Tomb Raider series from Crystal Dynamics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience building services using AWS products
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
- Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
- You identify and solve ambiguous problems, architectural deficiencies, or areas where your team’s systems hinder the innovation of other teams, and are learning to do this for other teams in your organization
