Job Description

ByteDance System Technology & Engineering team is seeking a Senior GPU System Engineer to analyze performance and reliability requirements of AI/ML workloads/systems for the rapidly evolving server architecture. You will apply system software/compiler implementation and performance optimization techniques to optimize them to improve ByteDance products and user experiences. This role requires in-depth knowledge of how the machine learning system interacts with other systems or software components (kernel, networking, compiler, libraries, etc.). You will partner with cross-functional teams across ByteDance and vendors to customize the AI/ML accelerator architecture and optimize the computation software.

Must have:

Strong computer architecture/system knowledge
3+ years performance optimization experience
Familiar with data structures and algorithms
C/C++ programming language proficiency
Passion for computer systems/architecture
Problem solving and debugging skills

Good to have:

Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
Experience with machine learning model inference and training (Nvidia/AMD GPU hardware)
Experience with CUDA, OpenCL, GPU performance profiling and tuning
Experience with AI accelerator software-hardware co-design, architecture performance modeling
Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow, or JAX) and performance optimization techniques

Qualifications

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $194000 - $355000 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
