Job Details

Octopus Deploy sets the standard for Continuous Delivery, empowering software teams to deliver value in an agile way. Over 4,000 organizations globally –  including Ubisoft, ASOS, Xero, monday.com, Stack Overflow, NASA, and Disney – rely on our Continuous Delivery, GitOps, and release orchestration solutions.

Founded in Australia in 2012, our team of over 270 Octonauts now spans the globe. We combine high growth and big ambitions with a sustainable, balanced working environment. Our revenue has grown consistently between 30–50% every year for the past 8 years, and we’ve been profitable for 10 out of the past 11 years.

We’ve been remote-first since 2015 and work with an uncommon level of transparency. You can read our public handbook to learn how we work. We have a transparent approach to compensation that ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same, with well-defined career pathways. We foster a supportive, collaborative, and high-trust environment. We leave our job titles at the door and focus on doing what’s best for our customers and team. Our leaders never shy away from answering the tough questions at our all-hands calls or in 1:1s. We conduct interviews and onboarding virtually as part of being a remote-first company.

A Demand Generation Marketer within the Marketing team at Octopus is responsible for raising awareness of the Octopus brand and creating demand that will lead to the acquisition and expansion of new and existing commercial and enterprise customers.
This is a new role at Octopus. Marketers at Octopus have always contributed to demand generation, but we have never had a role dedicated to it. You will own the programs and campaigns that forms the distribution engine around our DevOps and Continuous Delivery themes and sub-themes such as Kubernetes deployments, DevEx, and CI is not CD.
You will be responsible for generating demand that converts to leads, opportunities, and revenue. You’ll take ownership of the early phase of our customer journey in attracting and converting our audience through our web and digital channels. You’ll focus on creating demand that goes on to generate leads that make a difference to our bottom line - we want to generate quality leads who are in-market for deployment and CD tools, rather than generate thousands of tire-kicker leads that end up going nowhere. You’ll be obsessed with our customers and what makes them tick and engage them with content and campaigns that makes Octopus seem like a no-brainer decision for them.

Your remit will be global, but you will also work closely with Revenue teams at a regional level to support demand gen across their accounts and target industries.
This remote position requires you to be located in Canada to help our teams work together effectively.

What You'll Do

    • You are responsible for planning and executing our demand generation strategy and campaigns.
    • You’ll work closely with our partner agencies (SEO, paid search, and paid social) to plan and execute campaigns to support our demand-generation activities.
    • Raise brand awareness of the Octopus brand in our target market’s digital landscape.
    • You will develop high-impact B2B demand generation programs to meet pipeline and revenue goals.
    • Ensure the demand generation engine feeds lead generation to meet targets such as new business inquiries, marketing qualified leads (MQLs), sales qualified leads (SQLs), conversion rates, and cost per acquisition.
    • You will work with cross-functional teams including product marketing, partner marketing, and content marketing to identify and leverage buyer journey assets, messaging, and content in demand gen campaigns.
    • Align with Sales Development teams for top-of-funnel inbound and outbound programs.
    • Plan and maintain a campaign calendar aligned with other marketing stakeholders and teams.
    • You will have a close relationship with our Revenue teams and understand how demand generation plays an integral part in lead generation and downstream sales opportunities.
    • You work closely with our Product teams to understand the value Octopus delivers, what new roadmap items are on the horizon, and how these translate into demand gen activities before, during, and after launch.
    • Help position Octopus as the market leader in Continuous Delivery - we want to be in the consideration set of all DevOps teams when they are considering tooling.
    • Have a deep understanding of our target market, audience segmentation strategies, and buyer journey mapping.
    • Communicate and coordinate plans with other stakeholders and document plans for visibility across the organization.
    • Plan, maintain, and optimize campaigns throughout the year in line with Product Marketing and Revenue team plans and objectives.
    • You will present demand generation plans to stakeholders and document work for visibility across the organization.

Your Background

    • You have 5-8 years experience working in a performance marketing, demand generation, or lead generation role.
    • You have a good understanding of Continuous Delivery, the software delivery process, DevOps, and deployment automation.
    • You can manage and execute campaigns end-to-end with minimal direction from others.
    • You are knowledgeable or ready to learn about Octopus Deploy and where it fits in enterprise organizations.
    • You are customer-obsessed and are motivated to tell our story and the value of Continuous Delivery.
    • You have good project management skills, well-organized, and an effective communicator.
    • You have worked with CRMs, marketing automation platforms, and marketing analytics tools.
    • You have a good track record of working with Sales teams and are data-driven and numerically inclined.
Octopus has an internally open and transparent system for compensation. Any Octonaut can view the compensation for any role at any level. This ensures people doing the same work with the same skill get paid the same.

The compensation for this role is:
Level 3
Maturing: $95,000 CAD
Performing: $115,000 CAD

Benefits include a minimum of 25 days annual leave, up to 10 days of paid sick and carers leave, 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave with flexible return options, pension contributions, and stock options. Learn more.
