Rockstar Games seeks a Marketing Manager to spearhead the growth of its business in Japan. Reporting to the Senior Publishing Director (Asia), this role requires independent work, supported remotely. Responsibilities include building a brand awareness roadmap for Japanese players, creating tailored marketing strategies, collaborating with international counterparts, managing relationships with local partners, staying abreast of Japanese gaming trends, and executing marketing events. The ideal candidate will possess native-level Japanese fluency, strong English skills, extensive experience launching Western brands in Japan, deep understanding of Japanese gaming culture, and exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Rockstar Games is seeking a Marketing Manager to assist in the growth of our business in Japan. This is a unique opportunity for a high performer to take on a pivotal role, with the ability to have a significant impact on the business. Reporting to the Senior Publishing Director (Asia), who is based in Singapore, you will work independently, supported remotely by the regional team, requiring you to be very driven and self-disciplined. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Japanese players and a breadth of experience bringing Western products and live services to market.

You will represent Rockstar in Japan, serving as the key point of contact for the business. Additionally, this role includes oversight of all communications-related functions, supporting the local communications strategy to ensure alignment with our overall publishing initiatives. Your role will involve close collaboration with the Communications team to help define and refine Japan-specific strategies while acknowledging the complexity of the Asia region and limited local staffing. 

This is a full-time, in-office position based in our Take-Two Tokyo office. 

WHAT WE DO

  • The Rockstar publishing team in Asia supports the growth of the business in Asia in addition to the day-to-day management of our regional markets.
  • We collaborate closely with our regional Take-Two sales, operations, finance, legal, and Human Resources counterparts to support all facets of the Rockstar business in Asia.
  • We manage product launches for high-profile console, PC, and portable video games, including live service titles. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and develop a roadmap that leads to enhanced awareness of our brand and products with Japanese players.
  • Create tailored product marketing strategies, focused on messaging and positioning, for our titles in Japan.
  • Work with our European and International counterparts to deliver best-in-class campaigns that resonate with Japanese players.
  • Maintain and leverage relationships with local partners, including but not limited to media, first-party, agencies, and distributors.
  • Maintain awareness of Japanese press and social media best practices.
  • Establish relationships with the local gaming community and creators.
  • Be our local expert on gaming and entertainment industry trends, technologies, and the competitive landscape.
  • Support the execution of media, lifestyle, industry, and community events for the Japanese market. 
  • Provide local insight on communications efforts to ensure campaigns resonate with Japanese players. Work closely with the Communications team to ensure synergy between marketing and communications strategies. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Native-level Japanese, fluency in English (IELTS qualification or equivalent is a plus).
  • Subject matter expert, with a Degree and/or 5+ years of professional experience in consumer marketing, preferably interactive entertainment. 
  • Expertise launching and/or managing Western brands/IP in the Japanese domestic market.
  • Deep knowledge of regional/cultural landscape differences and similarities in the gaming communities of Japan and North America.
  • Detail and results-oriented self-starter with disciplined workflow practices.
  • Strong presentation and organizational skills.
  • A passion for video games, the landscape, and the industry.

  • Able to contribute toward strategic planning efforts while managing day-to-day domestic execution with excellence.
  • A collaborative ethos working on multiple projects over extended periods, both in-person and remotely.
  • Takes initiative and own projects from start to finish.
  • Able to communicate effectively within a large organization.
  • Creative thinker capable of analyzing marketing challenges and developing effective marketing solutions.
  • Comfortable providing actionable insight from internal data and consumer research.
  • Demonstrated success thriving in high-pressure, high-expectation roles, delivering exceptional results.
