Titre du poste :  Directeur·trice Technique Art 

Nous recherchons un·e Directeur·trice Technique Art expérimenté·e pour rejoindre notre équipe. En tant que Directeur·trice Technique Art en charge de la production des cartes, vous contribuerez à la vision technique des différents pipelines pour produire notre contenu (Level Art, Lighting, VFX, Modeling, Texturing). Vous serez responsable des données produites par l'équipe maps en veillant à leur conformité technique. Vous travaillerez en collaboration au sein d'un groupe multidisciplinaire en représentant l'équipe artistique et en résolvant les défis techniques afin de faciliter l'intégration du contenu artistique dans le jeu tout en obtenant une qualité visuelle exceptionnelle. Vous favoriserez le succès de l'équipe maps en identifiant, en partageant et en appliquant les meilleures pratiques pour la production de cartes AAA dans Unreal Engine.

Reporting

Le·a Directeur·trice Technique Art relèvera du·de la Responsable de la Technologie Centrale.

Responsabilités et tâches

  • Collaborer avec d'autres membres de l'équipe centrale pour développer et soutenir la vision technique de la production de cartes.

  • Examiner en profondeur les cartes et les actifs d'un point de vue technique.

  • Appliquer et diffuser les meilleures pratiques.

  • Accompagner et soutenir les artistes, y compris les partenaires d'externalisation, sur les outils et les processus.

  • Assurer la communication entre la conception et la programmation.

  • Maintenance de la documentation technique (guides pratiques, procédures, etc).

  • Débogage et dépannage des problèmes signalés par les artistes ou l'assurance qualité.

  • Aide à la validation des données en python (modification des règles, ajout de nouvelles validations, etc).

  • Soutien à la surveillance des performances.

Expérience et compétences

  • Livraison d'au moins un jeu de console AAA.

  • Expérience de travail avec Houdini et VEX (Houdini Shading Language).

  • Expérience dans l'écriture d'outils avec Python.

  • Expérience de la création de shaders personnalisés.

  • Bonne connaissance des logiciels 3D/2D.

  • Connaissance approfondie des pipelines artistiques et capacité à créer des outils et des scripts pour les maintenir.

  • Bonne communication avec les membres de l'équipe technique et non technique.

  • Solides compétences organisationnelles.

  • Autonome et motivé, avec un fort esprit de collaboration et de travail en équipe.

  • Vous aimez obtenir des résultats supérieurs.

  • Bonne capacité à résoudre des problèmes complexes.

  • Bonne connaissance des outils de débogage et de réparation.

Qualifications recherchées

  • Expérience des jeux en direct.

  • Jeu expédié à 60fps.

  • Python et scripting blueprint.

  • Scripting de shaders (node base ue5).

  • Expérience sur unreal engine.

  • Expérience avec des outils procéduraux (houdini).

  • Expérience sur des jeux de type Shooter.

  • Expérience en Blender.

  • Expérience PS5.

  • Familiarité avec les outils PlayStation de Sony.

  • Expérience avec Unreal Engine (UE5).

  • Compréhension des API et paradigmes graphiques modernes (Vulcan, DX12).

We’ve made amazing progress in a short time thanks to our talented, passionate team and their exceptional contributions. We established a culture at Haven grounded in kindness, adaptability and courage that unlocks creativity. Our first new IP for PlayStation is on track to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systemic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years.

Haven joined the PlayStation Studios family in 2022, and we are on track to build an exclusive new IP for Playstation and grow the first Sony game development team in Canada. 

Position – Technical Director Art

We are looking for an experienced Technical Director Art to join the Haven Entertainment Studios project team. As a Technical Director Art in charge of map production, you will be contributing to the technical vision of the different pipelines to produce our content (Level Art, Lighting, VFX, Modeling, Texturing). You will be responsible for the data produced by the map team ensuring its technical compliance.  You will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary group by representing the art team and by solving technical challenges to help the ease of integration of art content into the game whilst achieving exceptional visual quality. You will foster the success of the map team by identifying, sharing, and enforcing best practices for AAA map production in Unreal Engine.

Reporting

The Technical Director Art will report to the Head of Central Technology.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with other core team members to develop/support the technical vision for map production 

  • Technical in-depth map and asset reviews

  • Enforce and propagate best practices 

  • Coach and support artists, including outsourcing partners on tools and processes

  • Bridge communication between design and programming.

  • Technical documentation maintenance (how-to guides, procedures, etc…) 

  • Debugging and troubleshooting issues reported by artists or QA

  • Data validation python support (Tweak rules, add new validation, etc)

  • Performance monitoring support

Experience and Skills Required

  • Shipped at least one AAA console game

  • Experience working with Houdini and VEX (Houdini Shading Language)

  • Experienced in writing tools with Python

  • Experience of creating custom shaders 

  • Good working knowledge of 3D/2D packages  

  • Deep knowledge of art pipelines and able to create tools and scripts to maintain these

  • Good communication with both technical and non-technical team members

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated with a strong collaborative and teamwork oriented mindset.

  • Thrive on achieving superior results

  • Good at troubleshooting complex problems

  • Good at debugging and fixing tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on live game

  • Shipped game @60fps 

  • Python and blueprint scripting

  • Shader scripting (node base ue5)

  • Experience on unreal engine

  • Experience with procedural tools (houdini)

  • Experience on Shooter type game

  • Experience in Blender

  • PS5 experience 

  • Familiarity with Sony’s PlayStation tools

  • Unreal Engine experience (UE5)
