Job Description

As a Customer Engineer, Infrastructure Modernization Specialist at Google Cloud, you'll work with the Sales team to introduce Google Cloud to customers. You'll help prospective and existing clients understand Google Cloud, develop creative cloud solutions, estimations, and architectures. Responsibilities include inspiring customers to solve problems with novel solutions, managing the Go-to-Market strategy from a technical perspective, crafting strategies to transform customers and resolve technical blockers, demonstrating Google Cloud product integrations, helping the Account team close agreements, recommending migration strategies and cloud infrastructure, and traveling to customer sites and events. This role requires strong technical expertise in cloud migration, data center migration, disaster recovery, virtualization, and application/server assessment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
  • 10+ years of infrastructure modernization experience
  • Cloud migration, data center migration, or DR experience
  • Leading IT discussions and designing cloud adoption plans
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in CS or related field
  • Experience architecting on public cloud
  • Kubernetes, RDBMS, and NoSQL database experience
  • Linux system administration or enterprise application experience
  • Understanding of virtualization and networking concepts
  • Understanding of AI and ML concepts

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience planning infrastructure modernization as a technical consultant, technical pre-sales engineer, or enterprise architect.
  • Experience in one of the following: cloud migration, data center migration, disaster recovery, virtualization, or application/servers assessment/discovery.
  • Experience in leading IT discussions and design cloud adoption plans.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience architecting and implementing solutions on any public cloud as an enterprise architect or IT infrastructure consultant.
  • Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem, Relational Database Management System and NOSQL databases.
  • Experience with Linux system administration or enterprise applications.
  • Understanding of virtualization and networking concepts (e.g., Linux, hypervisors, network virtualization, open protocols, application acceleration and load balancing, DNS, virtual private networks) and their application to PaaS and IaaS technologies.
  • Understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire customers and peers to solve difficult problems with novel solutions, leveraging a sophisticated set of technical competences.
  • Manage the Go-to-Market strategy from a technical perspective. Craft the strategy to transform the customers, identify customer technical objections, and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
  • Work with customers to demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud product integrations in customer/partner environments. Help the Account team to close agreements from a technical perspective.
  • Recommend migration strategies, enterprise architectures, migration tools, and cloud infrastructure required to complete solutions using on Google Cloud.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events, as needed.
