Summary

The Broadcast IT System Administrator at Warner Bros. Discovery will maintain, install, and support servers and networks across various operating systems (Unix, Linux, Windows, macOS) used in production, including audio/video and other application servers. Responsibilities include system performance monitoring, software upgrades, backup and maintenance, troubleshooting production issues, and liaising with other teams. The role involves some design, coding, and implementation of custom applications. The candidate must possess strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with experience in a networked computing environment and familiarity with broadcast production systems. 24x7 on-call support is required.

Your New Role...

This professional provides maintenance, installation and support for Unix, Linux, Windows, and Mac OS based servers & networks used by the local offices/bureaus and across cities and in the Cloud for production.  This includes audio/video servers as well as other production systems (e.g., VM Servers, application servers, etc.).  Demonstrated skill and experience in a networked computing environment is required, as well as familiarity with broadcast production systems. Position may include some designing, coding, testing, implementation, and support of custom software applications or tools for the local bureau/office and Cloud enviroments.  Candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot production issues that impact our on-air environment in a time efficient manner.  This person should have the ability to coordinate support activities among all impacted teams and communicate production status to customers as appropriate.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Procure, install, and configure file servers, audio/video servers, VM servers, and other development/production equipment necessary for the effective and efficient use of digital information in broadcast production. Work with management to create, track, and manage project plans and resources as necessary. (25%)
  • Perform system performance monitoring and tuning, software configuration, performance and capacity planning, installation of system patches, system sizing and client configuration, data archiving, and other maintenance tasks to ensure near-100% availability of production systems. (20%)
  • Perform system-wide software upgrades/deployments for the LAN and/or server infrastructure.  Suggest configuration changes (both software and hardware) to existing networks to improve their availability, stability, or uptime to the user community. (25%)
  • Perform regular back-ups and maintenance of servers and databases to ensure availability and integrity of data and operational systems. (10%)
  • Liaison with other technology groups and business constituents to ensure business continuity and full communication for performing system-wide software upgrades/deployments for the LAN and/or server infrastructure. Recommend and justify to management configuration changes (both software and hardware) to existing networks to improve their availability, stability or uptime to the user community. (10%)
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts (e.g., Atlanta ASG Group) for critical and/or complex problems or projects to ensure efficient and effective business support for the client tools.  Ensure sufficient inventory of parts and technology supplies, working with procurement and asset management teams to order and track inventory. (10%)

Qualifications & Experiences...

4+ Years of Unix/Linux, Windows, MacOS Systems Administration

  • Experience with Redhat / CentOS / Debian
  • Solid Scripting skills in BASH, PERL, or UNIX shell variants.
  • Demonstrated experience of standard networking protocols, computing operating systems, & LAN/WAN topology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP Networking Concepts (DNS, DHCP, etc.).  Experience with web servers such as Apache and IIS preferred
  • Demonstrated fluency with NFS, SMB, and FTP file services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of the LAMP stack
  • Provide 24 x 7 On-Call Support and Remote sites.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server + and Advanced Server, OSX, Microsoft O365 email system software, and UNIX Demonstrated knowledge of the elements of the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PERL/PHP/Python)
  • Demonstrated experience in the service and operation of computing hardware and related peripherals.  Experience with of broadcast equipment highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience of TCP/IP Networking Concepts (DNS, DHCP, etc.), Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat, SuSE, CentoS) and MacOS
  • Experience with Network based storage products, NAGIOS, Oracle and/or DB2 a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with NFS, SMB, and FTP file services, as well as various Directory Services (LDAP, OpenDirectory/NetInfo, Active Directory).
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and standard business applications.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with broadcast systems and/or hardware (e.g., VizRT, iNews, Omneon Spectrum)
  • Demonstrated experience working on technology and/or process design/re-engineering projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Related Field (IS/CS) or other degree with significant on-the-job experience in a computer field.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSING, OR CERTIFICATION :

  • Linux Certified Sys Admin
  • ITIL Foundations
  • Cloud Training/Certifications (AWS, GCP, Azure etc.)

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $62,783.00 - $116,596.00 salary per year.
