Job Description

As a Web Solutions Engineer, you will analyze problems, design scalable solutions, and resolve dependencies. You'll develop software solutions for complex business problems, working closely with engineering teams to improve tools. You'll understand customer and agent issues, advocating for their needs with cross-functional teams. Deep understanding of Google's product technology and architectures is crucial, involving troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and building diagnostic tools. You'll also design and develop tooling for customers and support agents, and create data pipelines for stakeholder reporting.

Must have:

Full-stack development experience
Front-end (JavaScript/TypeScript)
Back-end (Java, Python, Go)
Database experience (SQL, NoSQL)
Problem analysis and solution design
Collaboration with engineering teams

Good to have:

Java, C, C++, Python, shell scripting
Linux/Unix, systems administration
Account management, ticketing systems
Data storage, retrieval, analysis
Web technologies (HTTP, DNS, TLS, HTML), networking

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience in software development.
4 years of experience in full-stack software development and system design.
Experience with front end languages (e.g., JavaScript or TypeScript).
Experience with backend languages (e.g., Java, Python, or Go).
Experience working with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in programming/scripting languages such as Java, C, C++, Python, shell scripting, and JavaScript.
Experience in Linux/Unix, basic systems administration.
Experience with account management, ticketing and billing systems.
Familiarity with application-level data storage, retrieval, and analysis tools and concepts such as SQL, NoSQL, logs analysis, protocol buffers, and MapReduce.
Understanding of the following Internet technologies: web-tech (HTTP, DNS, TLS, HTML), networking (routing, TCP/IP).

As a Web Solutions Engineer, you will use your technical aptitude and design skills to analyze problems, provide elegant and scalable solutions to them, and identify and resolve dependencies. You will help innovate and develop software-based solutions for complex business problems.

Responsibilities

Work closely with engineering teams to improve our tools.
Understand customer and agent issues and advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams like Software Engineering.
Develop an in-depth understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis, so we can identify and resolve future issues quickly.
Ingest and create data pipelines from upstream systems providing data availability and reporting for stakeholders.
Design and develop tooling for our customers and support agents.
