Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager (L5) in Security Engineering at Netflix, you'll lead initiatives enhancing the resilience and operational efficiency of the security organization. This requires strategic thinking, a strong technical background, excellent program management skills, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities include optimizing operational processes, developing and executing plans (internally and externally), establishing KPIs, and working closely with security engineers and leadership. You'll need a deep understanding of the security domain and the ability to gain technical understanding across program lifecycles, while also demonstrating proficiency in strategy and execution. The role involves working with various stakeholders, including senior leadership, product managers, and engineers, to drive impactful security initiatives.

Onboard, one of the first initiatives you will be responsible for is leading and managing initiatives that enhance the resilience and operational efficiency of the security organization. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, technical background, outstanding program management skills, and the ability to collaborate across various stakeholder teams to ensure seamless operations and support the organization's security objectives. You will work closely with security engineers and leadership to devise strategies for optimizing operational processes, develop and drive execution plans (both internally and with external partners), and establish metrics and KPIs to monitor the performance of operational programs and processes.

We are leaning into the “T” (Technical) for this role. By technical, we mean that the ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the overall security domain and ability to gain a technical understanding of programs across their lifecycle. TPMs must be skilled at both strategy and execution as well as have depth in their technical domain. 

The Team
The Security and Privacy Technical Program Management team is a force multiplier for the security organization; we partner closely with engineering and product teams across Netflix to deliver impactful and scalable security initiatives. These initiatives are highly visible and cross-functional, requiring technical thought leadership throughout Netflix’s engineering and product organizations. We collaborate with leaders inside and outside the organization to align on strategic goals and vision to further the security roadmaps for our partnering teams in a business driven way.  We engage with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, product managers, engineering managers, and developers, to establish and drive initiatives that make a significant impact.

Desired Background

  • Passionate about leading by influence and advocating for change. 

  • Demonstrated ability to establish a vision and to execute on it.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear articulation of business impact and technical constraints tailored to the audience.

  • Proficiency to triage multiple initiatives to make a judgment to tackle the right problems at the right time.

  • Ability to identify gaps in solutions, debate technical approaches and weigh-in on product vs technology tradeoffs.

  • Demonstrated success in driving organizational excellence with a focus on operational efficiency and process improvement by taking a data driven approach.

  • You have an understanding of technical foundations in identity and access management, cloud infrastructure security, third party risk or security in general. 

Compensation:

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.
