Job Description

As a Sweatbox TD at DNEG, you'll collaborate with supervisors and production teams to debug VFX shots, from animation blocking to final lighting. You'll need strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a generalist mindset, understanding the entire production pipeline. This role involves using software like Maya, Houdini, Katana, and RenderMan and requires Python programming experience. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, a team player, and adaptable, committed to meeting deadlines under pressure. This is a unionized position with IATSE, requiring union membership.

Must have:

Experience with 3D software (Maya, Houdini, Katana, RenderMan)
Strong problem-solving skills
Understanding of production pipeline
Python programming experience
Understanding of form, texture, motion, lighting

Description

Position at DNEG

As a Sweatbox TD, you will work directly with the VFX CG Supervisors, Department Supervisors, Leads, and Production teams to debug shots from blocking animation through final lighting. We are looking for talent with strong technical skills, strong problem solving skills and team players for producing high-end imagery. This opportunity is geared toward talent with career aspirations as a TD/artist in our Layout, CFX, FX, Lighting, or Animation departments.

Must Have

Experience using 3D software packages such as Maya, Houdini, Katana, RenderMan, etc.
Strong problem solving skills
Interest in the production pipeline as a whole with a 'generalist' mindset
Experience programming in Python
An understanding of form, texture, physical motion, weight, balance, and lighting
Understanding of Linux/Unix based operating systems

Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000 to $105,000 CAD. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level, and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferrable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.
