This Staff Software Engineer role at Google focuses on scaling and improving user journeys within the sports domain of Google Search. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, coaching a distributed team, managing project priorities and deadlines, and designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development, data structures, algorithms, and software product design and architecture. The role involves working on projects critical to Google's needs and requires versatility, leadership, and the ability to tackle full-stack challenges. Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • Data structures/algorithms expertise
  • 5+ years in software product design, architecture, testing, and launch
  • Technical leadership
  • Project management skills
Good to have:
  • Search/KE stack experience
  • Front-end development experience
  • Infrastructure design and optimization
  • ML model building experience

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience with design, architecture and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Search or Knowledge Engine (KE) stack and front-end development
  • Experience in Infrastructure design and optimizations.
  • Experience with building Machine Learning (ML) models.
