Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer at Kick, you'll build and maintain scalable Android applications used by millions daily. You'll optimize existing systems, lead technical discussions, mentor junior engineers, and participate in architectural decisions. Responsibilities include writing efficient code adhering to Android standards, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, taking ownership of projects, and proactively seeking improvement areas. The role requires proficiency in Kotlin/Java, experience with the full Android development lifecycle, and familiarity with RESTful APIs. You'll contribute to a fast-paced, innovative environment, tackling complex problems and shaping the future of entertainment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write maintainable, efficient, and scalable code, rigorously adhering to Android coding standards and best practice
  • Optimize existing systems for performance, scalability, and reliability, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies
  • Take full ownership of assigned projects or components, proactively identifying areas for improvement and leading technical discussions to enhance solutions
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers, sharing expertise to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment
  • Participate actively in architectural and design decisions, demonstrating a strong grasp of software design principles and scalability
  • Seek out growth opportunities to deepen technical expertise and keep the team informed of emerging best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in Mobile Software Engineering, focusing on scalable architecture and development.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin or Java, developing for the Android Platform and frameworks relevant to the role
  • Prior experience in the complete Android Development lifecycle, from design, testing, signing, releasing, fixing and beyond
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
  • Understanding of Android’s design principles and interface guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guiding teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications 

    • Experience building large-scale Mobile applications
    • Experience in building custom components, Video Players and animations
    • Demonstrated ability to lead independent projects
    • Knowledge in continuous integration as an Android developer
    • Experience debugging production applications and managing incidents
    • Is a quick learner and can pick up new technologies quickly

About The Company

Easygo is a well-established global tech startup, we pride ourselves on being early adopters, progressive in our approach and adaptable to the ever-changing technology landscape. Our core focus is in the online gaming space building well-designed casino games, crypto platforms, and sportsbooks built on our "provably fair"​ algorithms. The products we build are used by millions of people around the world including Drake and you’ll see their logos on an EPL team, the UFC, advocated by e-gamers and in a number of other sporting places.

The last 2 years have been huge for us, we have grown from 20 to 100+ team members. Whilst the products that we build are global we have two amazing offices in the same building in the heart of the CBD with all the bells and whistles you could ever want. Including an in-house barista, pool, and table tennis tables, PS5 and Nintendo Switches, a meditation room, help yourself drinks fridge and snack wall, catered breakfast daily, weekly massages and team lunch.
