Microsoft's Windows Silicon & Systems Integration team seeks a Senior Software Engineer - Audio Drivers to contribute to high-quality Windows experiences. Responsibilities include kernel and user mode driver development, optimization of driver stacks, performance enhancement, and collaboration with various teams (silicon architects, IHVs, OEMs). The role involves working with Windows OS fundamentals, audio driver development, and debugging hardware/firmware/software interactions. The ideal candidate possesses expertise in C/C++, firmware and device driver development and a strong understanding of software lifecycle in a device development environment.
Must have:
  • 4+ years Windows OS fundamentals and audio driver development
  • 2+ years experience coding in C/C++ developing firmware and/or device drivers
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience debugging hardware/firmware/software interactions
Good to have:

We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer - Audio Drivers with experience in Windows Audio Driver development to actively contribute toward the delivery of high quality, compelling Windows experiences on first generation silicon.  This position will involve partnering closely with silicon architects, IHVs, OEMs, Windows OS platform teams, Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group, and other teams to deliver end-to-end optimized device experiences for camera and camera effects.  

 

An understanding of software lifecycle in a device development environment and the interplay between software and hardware development and scheduled will be a requirement for this role.  Key responsibilities for this position include development of kernel and user mode drivers, optimization of driver stacks with Windows OS components and driving performance, stability and feature enhancements for the device level experiences aligned with IHV silicon roadmaps and Microsoft strategies.  Come join us as we scale up our organization to meet the challenges of creating new and innovative experiences and delivering devices that people love.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience with Windows OS fundamentals and audio driver development.  
  • 2+ years experience coding in C/C++ developing firmware and/or device drivers  
  • 2+ years’ experience working with and debugging hardware/firmware/software interactions. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,OR Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years Windows OS fundamentals and audio driver development. 
  • 4+ years coding in C/C++ developing firmware and/or device drivers.
  • 4+ years’ experience working with and debugging hardware/firmware/software interactions .
  • Familiarity with System on Chip (SOC) hardware architecture and software for SOC. 
  • Ability to quickly ramp up on complex and unfamiliar code.
  • Proven track record of shipping high volume consumer devices.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
