Senior Gameplay Capture Artist

Remote, Canada ONLY  /  Contract 6 months

 

Overview: We are seeking a skilled and creative Senior Gameplay Capture Artist to join our dynamic team. As the Senior Gameplay Capture Artist, you will play a pivotal role in crafting visually stunning and immersive gaming experiences and capturing them for use in gameplay trailers and other video assets. You will work closely with the Creative Arts team to ensure our assets maintain the highest standards of visual excellence, showcasing the unique features and aesthetics of every project we touch.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Team: Work closely with the Creative Director/Capture Director, and Producer, to understand the visual direction of each project and translate it into captivating gameplay footage.
  • In-Game Cinematographer: Operate an in-game debug camera and utilize various debug controls that are unique for each title. Strong eye for camera composition and character blocking a must.
  • Capture Gameplay Footage: Utilize a variety of tools and techniques to capture high-quality gameplay footage that highlights key gameplay mechanics, environments, and moments of action for various PlayStation titles.
  • Choreograph Cinematic Gameplay: Help to choreograph shots in the game, working closely with the Director/Creative Director to capture their vision.
  • Optimize Visual Quality: Implement best practices for capturing footage to maximize visual fidelity and showcase the game in the best possible light. This includes being able to identify and adapt to gameplay inconsistencies and bugs.
  • Provide Feedback and Iteration: Offer constructive feedback on gameplay footage and collaborate with the creative team to iterate and improve.
  • Meet Deadlines: Work efficiently to meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Gameplay Capture Artist in video game capture or a related field and a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with video capture software and hardware, as well as a solid understanding of video game debug controls and in-game debug cameras. Strong grasp of video editing techniques is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cinematography Principles: Experience in shot composition, camera movement, and lenses with a great sense of pacing and blocking.
  • Creative Vision: A keen eye for visual composition, lighting, and cinematography, with a passion for storytelling through gameplay footage.
  • Collaborative Nature: Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and personalities.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities, to be patient, and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for Gaming: A deep love for video games and an understanding of what makes them visually compelling and immersive.
