Job Description

The Senior Applied Data Scientist at Bing Places Conflation will leverage LLMs, SLMs, and RAG models to create efficient, scalable systems improving search relevance and user experience. Responsibilities include designing and implementing advanced AI solutions, staying current with ML/NLP research, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, creating robust data pipelines, mentoring team members, and upholding ethical AI principles. The role requires expertise in information retrieval, deep learning, and experience with large language models. The successful candidate will translate research insights into actionable solutions and contribute to impactful, customer-centric projects within a dynamic, research-driven team.

Must have:

PhD or Master's in relevant field with experience
Experience with LLMs, SLMs, and RAG models
Information retrieval and deep learning expertise
Develop and deploy AI solutions
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Good to have:

3+ years publishing research or presenting at conferences
Experience in production environments

As a Senior Applied Data Scientist, you will use Large Language Models (LLMs), Small Language Models (SLMs), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models to create modern, scalable, and efficient systems. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techn
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical tec
- OR equivalent experience.
Experience in Information retrieval and Deep Learning
Experience in Large Language Models (LLM) and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in publishing peer-reviewed research or presenting at conferences.
Proven expertise in developing and deploying AI solutions in production environments.
Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and big data technologies.

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
