Netflix's Ads Finance team seeks a Software Engineer (L5) to build and maintain their ads billing and invoicing system. This role is crucial for the operation of their advertising platform, spanning from sales engagement to campaign execution, ad serving, and financial reporting. Responsibilities include developing workflows for revenue recognition, invoicing, and report exchanges with DSPs. The ideal candidate possesses strong experience in building financial or payment solutions, understands modern ad technology, and is proficient in data governance principles for financial data. Experience with compliance (audit, SOX) and a strong understanding of the ad tech landscape are essential.

Our Team

The Ads Platform Engineering creates the ecosystem that spans across the “Pitch to Pay” process. It goes all the way from enabling our sales teams (and other DSPs, resellers) to engage advertisers to run their campaigns on Netflix, and cuts across inventory and order management, campaign execution, ad serving, audience onboarding, targeting and delivery, measurement, reporting and finance.

The Ads Finance team builds the ads billing and invoicing system that enable the ads platform to operate as a transaction sub-ledger

Our team is new, yet we have enormous ambitions of building highly performant advertising systems and delivering high impact to our business by monetizing our incredible slate of content. As one of the newest entrants in the rapidly growing Connected TV advertising space, we seek to build unique value propositions that help us differentiate from the competition and become a market leader in record time.

We are looking for highly motivated engineers working in the advertising space who are excited to join us on this journey.

Skills & experience we’re seeking:

  • Professional experience and interest in revenue advertising solutions, preferably on the sell-side or platform side. 

  • Understand the modern ad technology ecosystem with a focus on fintech. 

  • Experience with privacy, compliance, and governance in the advertising space.

  • 3+ years of hands-on, software engineering experience in building business-critical, reliable, and distributed systems.

  • Background in building financial or payment solutions. Experience in leveraging ML is a plus.

  • Proven expertise in developing workflows for revenue recognition, invoicing, and report exchanges with DSPs, with a strong ability to manage financial transactions and revenue tracking in the advertising domain.

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles for finance data, with experience in building robust, scalable, and secure systems for handling financial data, processing transactions, and generating accurate bills.

  • In-depth knowledge of finance compliance, including audit and SOX requirements, ensuring accurate billing and strict adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Broad knowledge of ad tech and advertising landscape, programmatic advertising, and digital marketing trends.

  • Developed many cloud-based applications and comfortable with modern programming languages (preferably object-oriented),

  • Familiar with A/B testing and experimentation.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Nice to haves:

  • Contributed to an ads industry technology standard (e.g  VAST, OpenRTB) or worked on an industry consortium effort, working group etc.

  • Familiarity with legal compliance and changing landscape of ads regulations around the world.

  • Experience working in the CTV space and knowledge of it’s unique constraints

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000.
