Job Description

As a Principal Product Manager at Microsoft's XPay team within the AI org, you will lead the growth of the Microsoft Wallet portfolio, focusing on delightful user experiences and business monetization. This involves expanding the Wallet's reach across various Microsoft products (including Edge, Copilot) and platforms (PC, mobile), acting as the CEO for your product area. You will deeply understand customer needs, the competitive landscape, and identify new growth opportunities. Responsibilities include crafting product vision and strategy, leading innovation through data-driven experimentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, UX, marketing, legal, etc.) to deliver exceptional value to customers and the business. You will also work with external partners and navigate the regulatory landscape of the payments industry. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, alongside a passion for AI-powered products and customer-centric design.

The XPay team delivers both a service platform and the Microsoft Wallet consumer product; these enable B2B, B2C, C2C payments in many different products and services across Microsoft. It is the enabler that lights up delightful new purchase and identity journeys and brings in user engagement and stickiness. It is what enables users to engage in the world of Web 3.0 with ease, security, and sustainability. This is a huge growth area in the industry with a 4T dollar opportunity. We need a leader with the creativity to identify and deliver on new initiatives that will capitalize on these trends and propel new business growth, work with partners across the company and external, work with the regulatory disciplines as payments is a highly regulated space and lead the project across a vteam of XPay and partner product managers, engineers, designers, user research, business function SMEs.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years experience working on user facing products, spanning product leadership, product discovery, user research, competitive analysis, planning, execution, data-driven product iterations, and demonstrated product sense and collaboration skills
 
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Product Management experience working on consumer products and/or Version 1 (v1) products

 

Product Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Product Manager, you will take on the challenge of growing our portfolio to enable delightful experiences and monetization for businesses and consumers. You will take Wallet beyond Edge to Copilot, other Microsoft and 3P consumer products, and across PC and mobile.

 

You will shape these products every day, as the CEO for your product portfolio. You will walk in our customers’ shoes – building on engagements with them, you will understand how they are using our product today and what they need from our product tomorrow. You will deeply understand the industry we’re serving, the business we’re in and our competition. You will identify new growth initiatives, craft product vision and the strategy to realize it. You will lead innovation, using data to experiment, learn, and iterate, without fear of failure. You will work across the company with other product groups, as well as across the aisle with other disciplines. We need leaders who can keep the big picture in focus, while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. You will partner with, and inspire, our development team to deliver significant value to our customers and business. Besides working with these technical peers, you will also work well with non-engineering disciplines such as our UX Research/Design/Content, Sales, Support, Marketing, Business Development, Operations, Compliance, Legal and Finance partners – you will leverage and collaborate with them to keep a close pulse on our customers, define best-in-class experiences, evangelize our vision and roadmap externally, take changes to market, and then measure their impact against customer and business goals.
