The Platform Hardware Design Engineering Manager will lead VLSI projects and serve as the Logic & Firmware Design Group Lead for Thunderbolt, USB4, and Client LAN products. Responsibilities include leading and managing a team of VLSI engineers, overseeing project execution, fostering a collaborative environment, serving as the technical lead for logic design across multiple products, driving the development of high-performance, low-power VLSI designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring rigorous testing and validation. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in VLSI design with a focus on high-speed interfaces, proven leadership experience, and expertise in VLSI design methodologies and high-speed interface protocols.

The CCD (Client Communication Division) Engineering group develops cutting-edge Thunderbolt & USB4 controllers and client LAN to the client market for host and accessories markets. CCD group have a track record of leadership for over 10 years, leading the thunderbolt and USB4 technology cross multiple generations.

We, in CCD, are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our VLSI projects and serve as the Logic & Firmware Design Group Lead for our Thunderbolt, USB4, and Client LAN products. Strong background in all VLSI design aspects from architecture and definition through pre and post silicon development to HVM, exceptional leadership skills with ability to work in a complex and demanding environments, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, innovative products is required. Additionally, the candidate must have vast experience in leading logic design group as a second level manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

  • Lead and manage a group of VLSI engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of VLSI projects, ensuring that milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
  • Lead design groups, coordinating efforts across multiple teams to achieve project goals.

Technical Expertise

  • Serve as the technical lead for the logic design team cross multiple products.
  • Drive the development of high-performance, low-power VLSI designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system architects, software engineers, and validation teams, to define and implement design specifications.
  • Leverage extensive experience in high-speed communication design to optimize performance and reliability of high-speed interfaces.

Project Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including resource allocation, risk management, and progress tracking.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and provide status updates to senior management.

Innovation and Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of VLSI design and development.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating new methodologies and tools into the design process.
  • Drive innovation in product design, exploring new approaches and techniques to achieve competitive advantages.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure rigorous testing and validation of VLSI designs, addressing any issues or defects promptly.
  • Implement and enforce design verification and validation processes to guarantee the reliability and performance of products.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to develop and execute comprehensive test plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in VLSI design, with a focus on design for high-speed interfaces such as Thunderbolt, USB, PCIE, DP and LAN products.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role, with a track record of successfully leading engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Vast experience in high-speed communication design, including signal integrity, timing analysis, and protocol implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading design groups, coordinating efforts across multiple teams to achieve project goals.
  • Expertise in VLSI design methodologies, including RTL design, synthesis, place and route, and timing analysis.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages such as Verilog and VHDL.
  • Strong understanding of high-speed interface protocols, including Thunderbolt, USB, PCIE, DP and Ethernet.
  • Experience with EDA tools such as Synopsys, Cadence, and Mentor Graphics.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of engineers.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Working Model
