Method Studios seeks a temporary Modeler for its VFX department in Santa Monica, CA (remote or on-site). The role involves creating accurate and efficient 3D models within project deadlines, adhering to technical standards, and collaborating effectively with supervisors and leads. Responsibilities include model creation, timely task completion, standard refinement, following directions, ensuring model accuracy, understanding design requirements, and reporting technical issues. The ideal candidate will possess experience in a similar role, strong skills in Zbrush, Mari, Maya, and knowledge of displacement and normal map generation. Teamwork, organizational skills, and communication are essential.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

Method Studios currently has openings for a project hire Modeler to work on projects within our VFX department. This position will be located in Santa Monica.

As a Company 3/Method Inc Modeler, you will help create and design accurate and efficient models in the assigned time frame as outlined by the project schedule. You will exhibit a high degree of technical skill and artistic judgment.
 

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Create models as required by the project;
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner;
  • Set and refine technical standards for modelers to achieve;
  • Follow Supervisor and Lead directions, ensuring models created are accurate and effective; Fully comprehend the requirements on the designs thereby creating models true to their designs; Be capable of taking direction and criticism well;
  • Report technical and other potential problems to Leads and Supervisors in a timely fashion.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Previous experience in a similar role;
  • Wide knowledge of Zbrush and Mari;
  • Good knowledge of displacement map and normal map generation; Experience and knowledge of Maya;
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize;
  • Excellence as a team player;
  • Solid organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Houdini; Scripting Abilities
