As a Vehicle Technical Artist at CIG, you'll be part of a team creating high-fidelity vehicle assets for Star Citizen and Squadron 42.  Responsibilities include hands-on implementation, performance optimization, rigging, skinning, asset markup, and supporting the vehicle content team. You will work closely with art and programming teams, develop and improve pipelines using tools like 3DS Max, MaxScript, and Python, and investigate new techniques. The role involves bringing ships to life through animation and physics tuning, and ensuring assets are technically sound for use in the games.  CIG has a reputation for creating complex, characterful vehicles that are more like mini-game levels, and you'll be contributing to their already impressive library of nearly one hundred ships.

Job Summary:The 3D Coordinator/Designer will be responsible for operating and maintaining 3D printing and scanning equipment and preparing digital models for print, while ensuring the quality and accuracy of each printed object. They will be accountable for researching 3D Printing and Scanning equipment, materials, and suppliers to help NOA Brands continue to stay on top of their innovative processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D design, product design, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while possessing an attitude of curiosity and innovation on leveraging latest technology advancements into our product pipeline. What You Will Do: <ul><li>Printer Operation: Setting up and operating 3D printers, including selecting the right printing parameters and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the printing process.</li><li>Post-Processing: Handling post-printing processes, such as removing supports, sanding, painting, or assembling printed parts.</li><li>Material Selection: Choosing appropriate materials for printing based on the desired properties of the final product, such as durability, flexibility, and finish.</li><li>Design and Modeling: Using CAD software to ideate concepts or create detailed and precise 3D models of mannequins, props, displays, and fixtures.</li><li>Prototyping: Developing prototypes of designs to test functionality and aesthetics before final production.</li><li>Collaboration: Working with engineers, product designers, and clients to understand requirements, provide design solutions, and ensure the final product meets specifications.</li><li>Innovation and Creativity: Staying updated with the latest advancements in 3D printing technology and incorporating innovative techniques into the design process.</li><li>Quality Control: Ensuring that the final printed products meet quality standards and specifications through rigorous testing and inspection.</li><li>Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of design iterations, printing parameters, and material usage for future reference and improvement.</li></ul>
 What It Takes to Succeed: <ul><li>BA / BFA /BS in Industrial Design, Engineering, 3D Design, or equivalent education through work experience and/or other course work</li><li>2 years of coursework or work experience with 3D printers or similar type equipment.</li><li>Expert in Slicer software and printer maintenance</li><li>In-depth knowledge of scanning equipment (ex. Artic Leo and Spider)</li><li>In-depth knowledge of 3D printer materials</li><li>Intermediate knowledge of 3D Design Software (ex. 3D Studio Max, Z Brush, Maya, Rhino, etc.)</li><li>In-depth knowledge of 3D printing/design processes.</li><li>High mechanical aptitude.</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).</li><li>Working knowledge of 3D Design/CAD and 3D scanning.</li><li>Working knowledge of 3D printing or similar type of equipment.</li><li>Ability to work quickly and efficiently and take direction.</li><li>Ability to work with little supervision and is self-motivated and time sensitive to set schedules.</li><li>Ability to adapt to various project timelines and requirements.</li><li>Ability to work with department managers &amp; reports.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively.</li><li>Ability to work professionally with clients and models.</li><li>Ability and willingness to work in a production environment.</li><li>Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.</li><li>Ability to operate handheld scanning equipment for up to 8 hours at a time.</li><li>Ability to stand, stoop, bend, twist, etc. in order to scan objects or live models.</li></ul>
