Job Description

VFX Environment Modeler with 3+ years' experience in Maya for hard surface and organic models. Strong understanding of geometry assets and Zbrush. Experience with Python, MEL, or HScript a plus.

Must have:

General Summary

The VFX Environment Modeler is responsible for creating CG environments and models that support the artistic goals and story concepts of the production.

Job Functions

Create and maintain 3D models for use in production.

Work with Environment Lead to help realize the aesthetic vision of the production.

Work with scan and survey data to reproduce or guide model aesthetic.

Adjust UVs and topology of model deliverables for downstream departments.

Ensure all deliverables meet the needs of all receiving departments.

Strictly follow quality standards established by Environments team.

Meet deadlines as established by production.

Participate in review session on a consistent basis.

Qualifications

3+ years’ of feature film or relevant industry experience (CG and/or VFX).

Ability using Maya for the creation of both hard surface and organic models.

Understanding and experience in the creation and use of geometry assets in a production setting.

Knowledge of polygonal, Nurbs, and subdivision surface types.

Experience with Zbrush.

Familiarity with scripting in Python, MEL, or HScript, a plus.

Experience with Houdini, Speedtree, MODO, Mudbox, Photoshop, Inventor, TogoGun, a plus.

Life drawing and sculpting experience, a plus.
