Rockstar Games is seeking an experienced product manager to help us deliver world-class experiences to new and returning players. This full-time role is an amazing opportunity to contribute to the platform that connects millions of players across the globe with our live-service gaming experiences, including Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online.

In this role, you will help us create, communicate, and execute our vision for our online platform and the technologies that power it. You will think through complex workflows, break them down into straightforward requirements, and prioritize those requirements effectively. Whether it is through documentation, roadmaps, presentations, or direct feedback, you will work closely with our services and game development teams to deliver the right solution at the right time. You will drive strategies that ensure our services can scale, are resilient, performant, and remain secure.

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s new state-of-the-art game development studio in Carlsbad, CA.

WHAT WE DO

  • Rockstar Games Online Services is a technology platform that powers Rockstar’s online titles and our ability to deliver world-class player experiences.
  • We create and maintain high-impact features for Grand Theft Auto Online, Red Dead Online, the Rockstar Games Launcher, as well as the core player accounts ecosystem and related social and messaging channels.
  • We also align technology and tools with our game and platform features to empower various teams within Rockstar – including development, marketing, cheat operations, and customer support – to create better experiences for our players.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion Product Management – foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and security-focused product development. Provide guidance and mentorship to other product managers, helping them grow their skills and contribute effectively to the team’s success.
  • Lead the design and implementation of secure game services – participate in development and deployment of secure backend systems, with a focus on preventing abuse, cheating, and securing player data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable game features – work closely with various engineering, game design, and operations teams to develop game features that prioritize both player experience and security.
  • Drive the product roadmap for game security and service infrastructure – manage the roadmap, aligning it with company goals, security standards, and player needs for both new and existing games.
  • Analyze game security metrics and player behavior – use data-driven insights to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement in game security and service reliability.
  • Stay current with security trends, vulnerabilities, and technologies – continuously research new threats and technologies and apply that knowledge to improve the security posture of our platform.
  • Communicate technical and security requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders – translate complex security concepts into understandable requirements for cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in game and platform security – review and optimize security, performance, and scalability strategies to ensure our games meet high standards for player safety and service quality.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12+ years of professional experience in product management in gaming or technology, or an adjacent field.

  • Experience with API security.
  • Experience with game security and anti-cheat systems.

SKILLS

  • Be a Team Player – outstanding communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Aptitude for working iteratively to support evolving stakeholder visions.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP/s, WebSockets, etc.)
  • Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure and security best practices.
  • Expertise in distributed systems and scalability.
  • Knowledge of encryption and cryptography.
