Job Description

Skydance Animation Madrid is seeking a motivated Environment Set Dressing trainee. This paid, on-site internship offers unique learning opportunities, networking with Skydance leaders, and real-world experience. The Environment Set Dressing department creates impressive environments using manual and procedural dressings and cutting-edge technology. Responsibilities include creating distributions using scattering tools (Houdini or similar), requesting revisions, acquiring basic technical knowledge of the studio pipeline, managing assigned tasks and notes, meeting deadlines, assisting team members, and following supervisor guidance. The role involves working on location assembling, set dressing per sequence, shot construction, optimization, rendering, publication, and support.
Must have:
  • Available for 3 months on-site
  • Enrolled in Associate/Bachelor/Master's program
  • Basic composition understanding
  • Houdini or similar software experience
  • Good knowledge of Maya/Houdini
  • Proficient writing & critical thinking skills
Good to have:
  • High English level
  • Spanish knowledge

Skydance Animation Madrid is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Environment Set Dressing trainee to join our studio!
 
Our Internship Program offers it´s own unique learning opportunities. You will have the chance to network and meet with Skydance leaders, learn transferable skills, and gain real-world experience. It is an experience ideal for those moving from the classroom to the industry.
 
This is a paid internship that will be held on-site.
 
The Environment Set Dressing department creates impressive environments with manual and procedural dressings. Using cutting-edge technology. The artists are responsible for distributing and growing assets and vegetation to fill the environment and improve the narrative context of the sequence. All content is gathered and optimized for each shot before delivering to Lighting and Compositing departments. 
 
Artists in this department are involved in several processes such as location assembling process, set dressing per sequence, shot construction, optimization, rendering, publication and support.

Responsibilities

    • Creates distributions using scattering tools such as Houdini or a similar software.
    • Is proactive in requesting the revision of their work once it’s finished it, and meets the technical requirements and QCs (Quality Control) before passing it to the rest of the departments down the pipeline. 
    • Acquires basic technical knowledge of the studio pipeline 
    • Learns how to be responsible for their assigned tasks, in a real production, as well as keeps control of their associated notes and tickets. 
    • Learns how to meet deadlines and notifies accordingly if it is not possible or related problems and issues arise. 
    • Follows the Supervisor’s and Lead´s guidance.
    • Assists other team members.

Requirements

    • Must be available for at least 3 months onsite (from Monday until Friday, 35h/week).
    • Must be currently enrolled in your last year in an Associate, Bachelor, or Master’s program at an accredited institution.
    • Basic understanding of composition.
    • Creation of distributions using scattering tools in Houdini or similar software.
    • Good knowledge of the software used for the show (usually Maya, Houdini).
    • Self-starter with proficient writing and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task. 
    • Highly motivated and interested in Animation and Technology. 
    • Good team player! 
    • High English level desirable.
    • Spanish knowledge desirable.

About Skydance Interactive

Skydance Interactive creates and publishes original and IP-based virtual reality games. The division of Skydance Media was launched in 2016 through the acquisition of The Workshop Entertainment. About Animation

In 2017, Skydance formed an animation division to develop and produce a slate of high-end feature films and television series in partnership with Spain’s Ilion Animation Studios. Skydance’s first three animated features are Luck, Split (working title), and Powerless (working title). Luck, directed by Alessandro Carloni (Kung Fu Panda 3) and written by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger, is a comedy that pulls back the curtain on the millennia-old battle between the organizations of good luck and bad luck that secretly affects our daily lives. Split, directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek) and written by Linda Woolverton, tells the story of Elian, a teenager who comes of age using her magical powers to defend her family when the opposing forces of light and darkness threaten to divide her kingdom. Nathan Greno (Tangled) is set to direct Powerless. The studio is located in Los Angeles, CA.
