The Director of Development at Xsolla leads and oversees software development teams, ensuring delivery of scalable, high-performance solutions. This role requires strategic thinking and a hands-on approach to inspire teams, drive technical excellence, and align engineering initiatives with business objectives. Responsibilities include defining and executing software development strategy, managing and mentoring development teams, overseeing project timelines and quality, driving architectural decisions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing development risks. The ideal candidate possesses 10+ years of software development experience (5+ years in a leadership role), expertise in Agile/DevOps, modern programming languages, cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP), and microservices architecture. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.

ABOUT YOU
The Director of Development will lead and oversee Xsolla's software development teams, ensuring the delivery of scalable, high-performance solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to inspire teams, drive technical excellence, and align engineering initiatives with business objective
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the software development strategy to align with Xsolla’s business goals. Lead technical planning and decision-making to support current and future product needs.
- Team Management: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of developers, team leads, and technical managers. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Delivery Excellence: Oversee project timelines, ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality solutions. Monitor and refine development workflows, processes, and methodologies to maximize efficiency.
- Technical Expertise: Drive architectural decisions to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability of systems. Stay informed on industry trends and integrate new technologies to keep Xsolla’s solutions at the forefront.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management, QA, and DevOps teams to define technical requirements and prioritize initiatives. Act as the technical liaison between business stakeholders and development teams.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks in the development lifecycle to maintain project stability and quality. Establish robust monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure reliability and performance.
REQUIREMENT
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven track record of leading large-scale, complex software projects. Experience managing distributed teams across multiple locations.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices. Expertise in modern programming languages, frameworks, and architectures. Strong knowledge of cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture.
- Leadership & Communication: Exceptional ability to inspire and lead engineering teams. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
